Hey, I wanna talk girlie-stuff too!  Can I, can I, can I?  :bouncer:

Hmm, let's see.... Crystal and I have discussed the Dove products before.  She knows I don't like 'em either.  It feels like you're putting goop in your hair.  I use Back to Basics shampoos and conditioners right now, but I alternate between that and yes, the cheap stuff:  Suave.  Their 'Professionals' line seems to work well with my hair.  And like I said, it's CHEAP.

A few months ago I went from Blonde to Brunette (some of you may remember that whole convo).  Brown hair was the only color I had never tried.  And I generally used Garnier Nutrisse.  But when I went from Blonde to brunette, I had it done professionally because I didn't want GREEN hair.  And I haven't had to dye it since because, well, apparently I am brunette anyway and wasn't aware of it.  LOL

I used to use NOTHING but Clinique makeup.  I loved looking in my purse and seeing all those cutesy little green tubes and cases.  However, I discovered that stuff doesn't really work any better than Cover Girl does, so I quit making special trips to the mall to pay $12 for a tube of mascara when Wally-World (Wal-Mart) is right up the road and I don't have to dip into my retirement fund just to buy lipgloss.  (Not that I even have a retirement fund, or anything).

I don't wear perfume because it makes me sneeze.  This used to not happen years ago... and I liked Liz Claiborne, Sunflowers and Eternity (for women, obviously).  I got a bottle of Celine Dion for X-mas last year, and it just sits there on my shelf collecting dust and fermenting.  It smells alright, but like I said, it makes me sneeze, and I don't know about YOU ladies, but uhhhhh, when I sneeze, the headlights come on every time. LOL

I have wayyyyyyy too many clothes.  If it's cute, I usually buy it.  I wear anything from jeans and tank tops to dresses and suits.  Just depends on my mood, really.  My avatar over there <----- I'm in a dress.  Not that you can tell.  And I'm a major shoe freak.  I love huge heels.  Chunky and wide to slim and long.  I couldn't tell you how many shoes I own right now.  Some I haven't ever worn.  I was certain I could find a use for them... one of these days.

Tanning.... oh man, don't get me started.  In the winter I'm ghost.  It doesn't bother me to be white during that time of year, but in the spring/summer time, I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror when I'm all white.  I started tanning about 5 years ago.  I started fake-baking at first.  NO THANK YOU!!!  It always burnt me to a crisp and made my skin itch like mad.  And although it's a lot quicker to spend oh, 12-20 minutes in a tanning bed as opposed to laying out, I opted for laying out instead.  It's actually one of my guilty pleasures.  I sprawl out on my chair in the backyard, blast the radio and bask in the sun until I can't take it anymore.  Generally 40 minutes on one side.  But I reach a peak and can't get any darker.  Like right now.  I'm as dark as I can get.  Now all I have to do is maintain it.  Once it starts getting chilly again, I quit laying out and tanning in general.  And the tan fades really quickly too.  I have used self tanning lotions and like the Coppertone Endless Summer foam the best, but as Crystal said, it takes work to maintain it.  Not to mention it kinda stinks and you have to wait a while before getting dressed.

Fishing... hmm, I've fished since I was a little kid.  I can't remember NOT fishing, really.  I used to do the whole rod and reel thing with bobbers, then I advanced to sinker.  My family owns a boat and we take it out sometimes in the summer.  Catch and release type thing.  And yes, I used worms and would put them on the hook and take the fish off if I caught one.  I had to use gloves though.  Got stuck in the fingers by a bluegill one year and it scared the heck out of me.  2 summers ago, my younger brother and his wife taught me how to fish with a fly rod.  I've not got back to rod and reel since.  It seems I catch something each time I send the line out, which makes it so much more fun than to sit there wishing something would bite.

Blah blah blah... Ok, who's got the longest post now?  I think Crystal's still got me beat.

Charmin....graphite or bamboo??

I'm old school fly-fishing...I have 4 bamboo rods.  One I bought many years ago and 3 I inherited from my Daddy.  (I've was offered $800 each for them about 15 years ago but I won't part with them.)  I used to go visit for 2 weeks every summer and we'd go fishin' bout every morning.  (Five o'clock comes awfully early...told him the danged fish weren't awake yet!  LOL)

And I could talk clothes with ya for sure...jeans, jeans and more jeans.  (But I prefer tee shirts.)  Oh..and boots!  Cowboy and workboots!  Yeps, us country girls are more about function than frilly.  At least, I am! LOL  :D

Oy my gosh............ I've done went camping & fishing for 2 1/2 days & came back- and you all are still here.  And I see the guys are admitting their little "beauty secrets" too.  Kewl.

Well, camping was fun- fishing was fun but coulda been funner. Do not, I repeat DO  NOT  ever go to Detroit Lake to camp over 4th of July weekend unless you have "made reservations". Do not think "Ah, we're gonna rough it anyhow, we'll find a spot to camp". Cause folks I tell ya- after 2 hours of driving around Detroit, we were headed home a different route & decided to check an old gravel pit area we had camped at about 10 years ago. Well, they had since added restrooms & picnic tables & turned it into a "group camp" area you can rent. When not rented- it's first come first serve. So-  there we stayed. Obviously not everyone knows about it yet. It all ended pretty well,  after all, but we came close to not getting to camp at ALL. And then the fishing- barely a spot to stand left along ANY of the banks, even when we parked on the road & hiked down to one of those not-so-secret "secret fishing spots".  So- it was too deep to wade out most places, and too crowded to be able to do much with a fly rod. So- I fished a bit with my rod & reel. Only fish caught was by my son. Yes, one measly rainbow trout.  He always uses a yellow rooster tail, he seems to catch fish on those every time.

But we had a family of deer that hung out at our camp ALL weekend. We saw them every evening & morning, & I was able to walk up very close & get some great pics with my cam.  It was pretty cool.  When I dig my cam out of all that camping junk, I'll post one here.

So I'm home, tired, got tons of laundry to do now, and I DID get a little red even though I normally don't get sunburn. (It's pretty darn hot tho right now)  Had alot of fun.

TuneLover- It's just a graphite. (I said they surprised me by buying my a flyrod & fly tying kit....... I didn't say they knew anything about how to CHOOSE one, haha) But I love my rod, (ummm......... the FISHING one, get your minds out of the gutter). It's pretty light, and not too long for me. (I'm sinking here, I know) I would love to have a bamboo rod, my dad has one & that's what he uses. He doesn't even own a graphite fly rod any more.

Oh- almost forgot. We were camped on Breitenbush Road at Detroit, and saturday morning the park ranger came around, & while talking she told us that they had found a body floating right across the road from our campground. Kinda wierd that we were actually fishing right dowstream from that in the same water.  It's in the local paper now that they have identified the guy.  Freaky.

Anyhow- gotta run, there's a car show in town & the boys are bugging me to go.

Sorry, no big "the one that got away" stories to tell. I could invent one- like all the men usually do- but I'm too tired to invent a story, sorry.  Next time I will, to make it more interesting. lol

Sounds like you had a nice weekend.  Guys also sometimes stop in the marina and buy fish so they can fill up their cooler.  Just a thought for next time.

Okay....I'm a newbie, but this discussion fascinated me because I am a total beauty product whore.  I could blow entire paychecks at Sephora.  I just got back from Las Vegas a week ago and almost died when I saw the gi-normous Sephora store at the Venetian.  I couldn't even go in because I knew what would happen.
Beauty products I can't live without: Neutragena Lash Tint mascara-darkens them without being gunky and washes off very nicely; Benefit Lip Plump-I have uneven pigmentation around my mouth and this is the ONLY thing that makes my lips look all the same color; any kind of hair color-I've tried almost every brand and I love them all...just make sure I have some on hand--my hair grows WAY too fast.  I do like the new Pantene shampoos and conditioners for Blondes...and Frieda Beach Blonde for after going to the ocean.
Now, about fishing...it's been years since I've gone.  Used to go to Lake Erie for perch fishing with my dad & his buddies.  The last time I went, I wasn't even going to fish, I was just going to sunbathe on the deck.  They convinced me to get  rod, and I ended up catching the biggest one of the day.  I wasn't invited anymore... :(

Dave- Do you all REALLY do stuff like that? And why? Cause it sure is not to impress the "ladies"....... most ladies would be like "Ewwww....... who cares about stinky ol' fish".  So it must be so you can hold your head up among your other "fishing buddies". (who....... most likely have already BEEN to that marina, and know the game) So, I guess it's a matter of who gets to the marina & fills their coolers with the most/biggest fish rather than who actually CaTcHeS the darn things. Hmmmm........

So what ELSE do men lie about, that's what I'D like to know. Cause it sure probably doesn't stop with fishing.  Tell me all your little secrets, cause as a married woman I have a RIGHT to know these things. (and to let my hubby think I figured them out cause I have that womanly "6th sense") So....... spill it all.  lmao

AndiH1025.......... Hiya, glad you joined us. (for our girlie/fishing thread)  lol  Don't know how we got so far off track, but it's been fun. Oh, yeah........ it was  Lonman. (see page 1 for proof....)

That "lip plumping" junk....... oh my gosh, I used that once by accident. We were at a karaoke bar, and I like lipgloss (and ya just CAN'T sing without proper lipgloss on), I was about to have my turn so I asked around the table "Anybody got any lipgloss". I don't usually carry my purse, and didn't have any that night.  My niece hands me a wand & says "Here, put this on". So I did. About 30 seconds later, right before getting called up- my dang lips started BuRnInG........ I look over, and she's giggling. I didn't think I'd get through the song without at the least slobbering a bit, haha.  She told me what it was after that, and I coulda smacked her. It was like....hot & stinging.  I don't want fat lips anyhow. I told her if I ever felt the need to have them, I'd prefer she just punch me in the mouth- same effects, and the stinging would probably stop quicker. lol

I'll have to look into Sephora, I've never even heard of that before. I'm not a huge makeup junkie. I usually stick with what I have gotten used to, kinda the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" theory. So, in all honesty, there are probably brands out there I'd like better but never give myself the opportunity to try them. THAT'S what this thread was meant to be about........... girl's exchanging info on good stuff.  So we could all get some good ideas. (but GUYS........ we'll still take those pics if you wanna post them)

Yeah, I knows what ya mean....... Maybe that's where they came up with the idear that men like plump lips....... cause that's how your lips get afterwards. Hmmm.... I bet it is. What a dumb idea. Guys? That true? You like fat lips? I still think I'd rather have someone pop me and swell em up as to use that stuff constantly.  I guess my bottom lip is pouty enough, cause I would never use it anyhow. I'll just tell my man if he wants em plump he can MAKE em that way, lol. (the good way...... ummmm.... not punching me, haha)

I'm LMAO at your little worm protest, that's too cute. Where do you all GET all those smilies? No- nevermind, don't tell me. I would surely get addicted to them, and then god help you all, I would be as bad as Crystal I imagine. (no offense Crystal, I love reading your posts- there just needs to be only ONE of you, haha)

Yeah, I'd have said the same thing. Sometimes worms catch NOTHING. I actually, if I'm not fly fishing, prefer to use lures. I hate to cast out then sit & wait for a bobber to start bobbing, like you gotta do with worms & eggs. I like to cast & recast. I usually use Rooster Tails. Yellow works good for trout & bass (& others). White or black works well too.  Or Cast Masters, the little gold ones, work good too for trout.  I know absolutely NOTHING about steelhead.... or salmon. Never fished for those before.

Now catfish- I used to catch alot of those. It's best to fish after dark for catfish though. You get a weed/plant called "sweet anise" and boil it. Then you make regular dough balls, and flavor it strongly with the sweet anise. Catfish go nuts over that.  (It smells like blcak licorice) Not sure where all it grows, but we used to pick it in California to make our catfish bait with. Actually, I think someone said you can buy anise scented Powerbait now. ??? So maybe you can just buy it.

Matt- *girlie thread*- if your gonna post here, it's mandatory that you give us a pic too. So pay up- I think you owe us a couple now. lol

Can't blame a gal for trying, lord knows the men usually do.  So show us your 6 pack.

Let's see.........back to makeup- I happen to have my bag sitting right here. (isn't that odd........)
*Coverup- CG Clean Makeup (currently "creamy natural"....gonna have to buy another color now that I got in the sun though)
*Powder- Have some CG, same color, but don't really use that much
*Current Eyeshadow- Maybelline (didn't think I had any of that??hmmmm) color is "Eternal Flame". Now that sounds like it should be more glamorous looking than it really is. It's a gold color, all *sparkly*
*Eyeliner- CG (I see a pattern here...) Just plain ol' black stick
*Mascara- CG Professional mascara- black/brown (I've tried em all, I love this stuff)
*Eyelash Curler- Can't get by without this, I have pretty long lashes, and when I blink they rub my sunshades, so I gotta use one in the summer.  It's a La Cross (has these clear rubber linings that don't get gooked up if SoMeOne borrows it and uses it with mascara on- I use it BeFoRe mascara only)
*Blush- Never use it, my cheekbones are too pronounced already, I don't like them
*Lipstick/Gloss- If it's shiny & lasts, I'll wear it. No red- ever- usually neutral tones, mocha/light frosty pink/stuff like that. Though- I do have a tube of something- I'm straining my eyes to read that tiny label on bottom. It's Loreal- "Endless & Kissable"...color is 850...... kind of a mocha color. It comes with a clear gloss to top it with. The gloss doesn't last too long, but the color- sheesh. I've honest to god ate barbecue, and then cleaned my face with a cloth and that stuff stays on. Never leaves a mark on your guys' neck or nothing.   It's good stuff, if you want something that lasts. Matter of fact- now that I think about it, I'm gonna go buy some more in lighter shades for summer.  After reading you girls' remarks, I'm gonna come home with a HUGE bag of shtuff......... and my hubbies gonna think I'm an idiot.
*Perfume- Nu uh, not me- never ever. I like to smell "clean" not "pretty". Once I have my shampoo & conditioner smell (usually Suave, Pantene, or Aussie Mega), soap smell (Caress), deodorant smell (always powder scented) , powder smell (Shower to Shower) , the last thing I need to add is one more smell.  And the stuff CAN make ya sneeze. Now a man- I can always sniff out a guy wearing Old Spice, or Wild Country. Drives me NuTz too.
*Jewelry-   Sometimes I like to be flashy with bangles & necklaces & stuff, but usually it's just my hoop earings & nothing else. I'm allergic to Gold, I would get a rash. (have to coat inside my wedding ring with clear nail polish) And cheap ear rings are worse- so I just never remove my hoops. Their tiny, and sterling silver- and they never bother my ears. No backs on em, so they stay put. I used to have a belly ring, but figured I outgrew that- so I took it out. (actually- it FELL out- I wont tell ya how, and so I left it out) Hahaha......... Just two sets of little silver hoops, that's all I ever wear. Most women LOVE jewelry- I just never have. Though I do collect Cameo's....... all kinds. I love em, but I rarely ever wear any of them.

Okay- so there's my makeup history. Pretty boring. (Yeah, I'm thinking I need to live on the wild side & try some new stuff.......... I'm GOING SHOPPING)
