Deawoo Model DVD 9200N Plays CD+G the box and information does not state this but we wanted a cheap DVD player to put out on the deck to play mp3 cd's , I decided to put a cd+g in it guess what? It plays! I went back a bought a few more as back-up for the second system. Could not beat it for $60

So if you need a CD+G for no commericial use or as a back up here is a great one on the cheap, a fellow KJ in the area found them for $50 and bought a few for himself. We got ours at Target.

I say not commercial use the seak time is a little slow.

ok....

you're welcome!

there are LOTS of players that will do this... many don't advertise it either!

The APEX players would...

and then there are the home cdg players themselves... those marketed towards karaoke! I bought one sucker at a Target store! Another at a Fred Meyer (like Target).

Soundchoice.com has a home player for about $80!

Yes, many players can play CD+G format if the chipset support it.

We have tons of cheap players over on this side of the world but have never know if they can play cdg.I am sure some of those can play cdg . Many sells below us$50. We call them disposable players cos they are not worth repairing when they go wrong

I was playing some tracks in a bar and didn't want to haul my 333.  I went and bought a Coby player for $50 from FYE that worked pretty well.  Colors were off sometimes on the lyrics, but overall pretty nice.  The seek time was lower than the CAVS 203 that I have but no where near as fast as the 333.

The SCDG's I have queue up pretty quickly but the CDG's take MUCH longer to queue up!

Do you have the 103, 202 or 203?  The 203 has only been out for a month or two.

Your'e right it is quick on super CDG but reg CD+G's do take some time.
I have a 202 One year old.

I wish I could trust having 1000 + songs on one disk without the possibilty of a damaged disk and loose them all.
But I think Im just going to replace the cavs 388 songs I have.

I am almost finished putting all my CDG's on my hard drive and soon maybe no disc player at all.

I have a number of discs that I obtained with my player (I don't use them for shows since the're technically bootleg - gasp!) that have 700+ songs on each.  I've tried them over and over at home to see how they hold up.  I've not hand any problems with them at all and they're copies on DVD-R.  I made copies onto DVD+R and they read the same and seem to hold up just fine.  To give you an idea, I have 23 Super CDG's and it's right at 17,000 tracks.  I can carry 3 times my normal collection in a foundation binder (the one that comes with the foundation collection) that's not even full!  My normal collection is over 250cdg's so the compression rate is phenomenal.

With two players it might work for a show but I'm sticking to my CDG's because I want to be legal.

BTW, the discs came with the auction I won.  The player is a little difficult to obtain right now since it's just out and persistently backordered.  I've NOT changed my thoughts or ideas regarding illegal copies and would have bought it without the copies if I could have found one.  As it was, I got the player for less than retail (including shipping) and the copies were a nice way to see how homemade Super CDG's work in the player before I start converting all my existing library.

I think the nero dvd copy software will do a full copy... but it may not read the copy protection on a cavs... never tried it before.

There are ways to bust the tracks down, and make them cdg, and vice versa... to make your own supercdg discs... BUT they are a pain in the watoosie...

Far more trouble than probably worth it to make supercdgs out of your normal cdg collection. Although copying your supercdg would be worthwile, only for the insurance aspects of it!

I don't have any commercial SCDG discs so I can't answer what will and what won't work.  I do know that the SCDG's that I have copied just fine using Nero and the disc to disc copy process.  I also changed from DVD-R to DVD+R media during the copy process.  I was using 4X media in a 2.4x burner (with a firmware update) and it went seamlessly.

The process to create SuperCDG's is outlines on CAVS website.  The software they use for playing back on PC's now supports playback of non commerical SCDG's on the pc.  I was considering using virtual CD to create all my SCDG's on the hard drive for playback without the actual discs.  It's something I'm thinking of playing with but the software is about $70 to play the SCDG's on the computer, and I'd still need a copy of Virtual CD/DVD.  I'm just trying out all the different alternatives to the 'typical' show setup on a computer.  BTW, doing it with virtual discs would prevent someone from copying my tracks if they fill in for me.

I can find information to break down/read the MCG files but no information on turning the DAT files on the discs back into MP3+CDG.  Matt, if you have any info let me know as I'm interested to see how easy it is because I can usually buy SCDG's cheaper than CDG's (Chartbuster E packs and some of the MM stuff is what I'm interested in mostly).  Yes, format shifting is technically illegal but I'm trying to outline the different possibilities before I tell the manufacturers to kiss my as....er, before I format shift my karaoke stuff this winter.

You might try Discjuggler, it's a free download.
