Hmmm....that violin looks like a bong I used to own in college....maybe you have the same make and model!!

ROFLMAO............ No, I DON'T have a BONG in my house. I'm sitting here looking at those 2 pics thinking "my fiddles were not in the living room when I took those photos".  You must mean the little guitar thingee on my comp desk. ???  It used to be a lamp that hung on the wall........ it had a glass inner lining and a light inside. When it broke, I couldn't part with the rest of it.

Nice try...............lol

Yeah, those "spring clips" ........... that's what I have.

TY Matt........ maybe I can get it straight now when I go looking and the RS guy wont think I'M clueless.

My mics have the XLR connector, so I'm familiar with those.

I think I'm gonna get some new speaker wire too, I know that doesn't cost much. Mine is wire we had around the house, and I adapted it to work.  Hmmmmm....... might could be atleast a part of my problemo now that I think about it.

TY for the links.......I'm gonna go check them all out.

the spring clips are a common interface when it comes to the bare wire connection!

I personally like the 1/4" adaptors both in the speaker (where it has the female 1/4" hole ready to be plugged in) and the 1/4" male plug for the connection. solid, neat and easy!

the speakers that got bought out of the back of a van are "kit" speakers that you can buy very cheap... got a pair in my garage that I paid 150-200 for 7 or 8 years ago... are they worth what ya paid for em? YUP, if they do what ya want... the guys who sold them out of the back of the van probably paid 200 bucks for a dozen of these kits, so you can see where the money is made... they park in parking lots around major retailers and give the story that a electronics or music store they work for (input friend, family member etc) ordered too many of the speakers and they gotta be able sell them ASAP etc... the speakers come in new boxes with all of the literature describing the high quality speakers that they are supposed to be and suggested retail price that says something like $1200-1500... despite the con, they do turn out to be fairly decent speakers and I have used them in mobile gigs and as filler speakers in large venues so I definitely have gotten my money out of them... - tig

Yeah, with the lady's story (who I got them from) and what I read on the internet..... I figured there was something more to the story.

But, yeah- I hooked them up before I bought them (her, my sis, and my nephews wife had a garage sale at MY house.... that's how I saw them)... and I liked them. Still do. As I said above, I have never once regretted the purchase,  I paid $175 for the set. And if I knew the whole story beforehand, I think I still would have bought them.  Don't matter to me where they came from, they have decent sound. They really have some good bass- which is something I like in music.

Thank you Tig.

Since this topic was bumped up I'll add my $.02 worth.  Have you got a new system yet?  If not, part of your feedback problem(judging from your pictures) is the height and placement of the speakers. Try taking them off the stands and setting them on the floor, that way the mic won't be right in front of the speakers and causing the feedback problem.  As far as purchasing a new system I'll agree with the JVC 22 single tray player(about $200) but look at a Behringer PMH1000(about $300)  When money permits add some new speakers, I'm partial to the Kustom brand as far as bang for the buck, especially when Musician's Friend or someone else has them on sale.

Gosh- didn't know this thread was even still being viewed, haha.

Randy- TY, glad I can make ya smile. (giggle, roll on the floor, whatever the heck you're doing.......)  I think I'm shy in person, everyone who knows me thinks I am anyhow- maybe that's why I write so darn much. (cause you see- you all can't SEE me)

hitwtom- You wanna hear something hillarious? NO- I have not bought any new stuff yet. Well, I got a mic cord the other day.    But nothing all *new & sparkly* like I'm wanting. Are you kidding? When I do, I imagine I'll be on here starting a new thread saying "Guess what I got ?!?!?!?!?................"

Thank you for the advice though. Yeah, my speakers are pretty much at my level. (which is, uh- not too high anyhow) But- they're off the floor.  I wanted them to be louder.  They also face me, and I think that's wrong. But due to space- I can't do much about that.
