I always try to pick things to sing that ABSOLUETLY NOBODY ever even TRIES to sing. That are so obscure, unusual or off beat --that you NEVER EVER hear anyone else even attempt:
-Rebirth of slick(Cool Like Dat)----Digable Planets
-Mojo Boogie-Johnny Winter
-Meet me with your black drawers on --Gloria Hardeman
-Pussy Control-Prince
-The Walkin' Blues-Royal Crown Revue
-Have you ever loved a woman -Robert Johnson
-The Long Valley Road-Bruce Hornsby
-Roundabout-Yes
-Any vintage swing song I can find(Not Zoot Suit Riot or Jump Jive and Wail although I do sing them both)
-The legend of Wooley Swamp-Charlie Daniels
-Round the way girl, Mama said knock you out-LLKOOLJ
-Everybody Love Somebody--Blues brothers
Anyway, what unique ones do you sing????

Well, around my neck of the woods here's stuff I sing that nobody ever seems to touch:
Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor
Henry VIII
Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter
Chewy Chewy
Mississippi Squirrel Revival
The Streak
This is the Moment (from Jeckyll and Hyde - the London version)
Why, God Why (from Miss Saigon)
Grow For Me (from Little Shop of Horrors)
Science Fiction Double Feature (from RHPS)
Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me (from RHPS)
Lady Marmalade (the Labelle version)
If You Knew Susie
Masochism Tango
My Girl Bill
The Pussycat Song (actually, there's one set of Co-KJs that sing that song too, but only because they learned it from me).

almost EVERYTHING I sing is something nobody else around here does!
"Mainstreet" - Bob Seger
"Gimme Shelter" - Rolling Stones
"Real Wild Child" - Iggy Pop
LOTS of 80's songs!
and I'm starting to get more kjs in my area singing some of the songs I do only cause I've helped with a reawakening in my area!

Lol- most ALL of the bluegrass I sing. Alot of it is older stuff, and hardly anybody has heard them. I even get people coming up asking me what KIND of music it is.
Crystal- I LOVE that Martina song. (can't SING it myself, but I love it) Hey- I know this is not a "request forum"..... but do you know "Strangers" by Martina? I don't think I've heard you do that one, and it's an awesome song. (I have the karaoke if you wanna try it)

Well........there is "one" song I do that I know no one around here does. I've tried to give them the track so someone else will do it and I'm the only one crazy enough to do it. I even stopped taking the disc with me so I could say "I'm sorry...I didn't bring that one this time" and the darn KJ went and bought it so now it's a standing thing. I just wish someone else would do it now..... The name of it is>>>>
Never Wear Panties to A Party by Kasey Jones, The Sweet Potato Queen
Gosh......that's what you get when you have a night of too much liquid courage....You get stuck with a song like this that everyone wants to hear again and again.
But on a more serious note......I do like to do songs that no one else does such as:
Hell and High Water
Love Has No Right
Out of Sight And On My Mind
Our Love Is On The Faultline
Gosh, I could go on and on..........I'll shut up now!!!!!!

I try to do all the new songs, before the KJ's in my area get the CD's. I subscribe to the new releases and usually have them a least a couple of weeks before they start showing up on the "New Release" sheets at the shows.
Recent examples:
Toby Keith - I Ain't As Good As I Once Was
Brad Paisley - Alcohol
Cowboy Troy with Big & Rich - I Play Chicken With The Train

A couple of my favorites are Love Shack, American Pie, and Paradise by the dashboard lights. I totally nail it and sound just like Johnny Cash on that one!
