[quote="outdoorplaces @ Thu Jun 16, 2005 10:02 am"]I do a lot of Green Day, which is loaded with expletives in their lyrics and at one venue I was asked not to use the "F" word in the songs. A little surprising as it was a sort of dive sports bar but hey, OK.
Not so surprising when you consider that the dives are where some of people prone to violence (as I used to be) hang out. The barowner where I hung out would not allow rap music on his jukebox. Pretty drastic, though I'm sure he learned from experience that it was a bad idea.

I heard a comedian talking about how if you don't like what goes on in a place, then don't go. Something along the lines of "I don't like what goes on at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, so I don't go there. If you don't like what goes on at a bar, don't go there either!"
Sums it up nicely, I'd say.

Actually the KJ and the people who do Karoake are often not welcome in a bar. We need to do something to improve our image among the regulars :)
At one place I go, the KJ awards people "two songs in a row" if the singers wear her stupid tee shirts. This pisses me off. I hate their stupid tee shirts :)
I do like it when she has a Marti Gras night :) :) :)

I've sang the Dennis Lehry song, and it's a hoot.
One time, I was talking on the mic, and a curse word slipped out. I had some regulars sitting at a table nearby, and one did a "gasp" and "omg, he said xxxxxx". I smiled, and said on the mic "It's a bar. Get over it!" and moved on. They laughed, heartily agreed, and went on with themselves!

The best, most sublime Karaoke performance I EVER saw in my life was a former regular do the Dead Kennedy's "Too Drunk To F***"
After he was done we were so wishing it was recorded and on video - he was SO in the zone -- the audience responded well - you couldn't help it, he was THAT good and singing style fit the song perfectly.
