After erasing all my playlists (classic rock, r&b, country, etc.) I got two seperate files set up for winamp finally. Then I installed my second soundcard. I named each winamp with a seperate sound device but had no luck. After having my computer guru friend check it out he change all other setting that I knew nothing nor found nothing on online about, now Im in business. I use two instances of winamp1 and open up fade amp and use this as a dual player. Then I open up winamp2 and use it with headphones to cue songs before I play them. Talk about less stress. It sure is nice to know exactly what you want to play next without worring if it is to slow or  to fast. :dancin:

Why not spend the money and get a professional dj software? winamp is about a ghetto as using cheap cd players with a digital decoder for karaoke.

I use pcdj fx with the karaoke plug in. Not perfect, but a step-up from winamp.

He already said he didn't care for that app.  I understand that there are a lot of people that really like the application, if I was looking for an app that allowed for the use of an external controller I'd seriously consider it.  That aside....

I sometimes do DJ work and use MP3 Tunes V2 for music.  Has two built in players, a database for songs, and will beatmatch and crossfade automatically.  Allows you to worry about the programming and ignore the 'technical' side of dj'ing.  Keep in mind I DJ for small parties in bars, etc where I'm not pushing a dance floor in a club, I'm providing music for a small group based on request.

It doesn't play cdg files but it works VERY well and is free.

I've seen a few other DJ type apps and I've not seen anything that stands up to this one for under $100.  BTW, it's far easier to use than WinAmp and a crossfader plug in.  It also has talk over built in, as well as eq, compressor and other plug ins available.

You'd still have to use WinAmp for your karaoke tracks, but it might simplify the music side of things...

How is the searching on mp3tunes. One thing I really like about winamp is the ease of searching for a song or a video. Just type a few letters and there is your song. I only have 16800 songs but it searches fast enough for me.

The database is alphabetical order.  You can type the first letter to jump to that section of the database and then scroll to the specific song.  The developer is taking requests for features and I'm asking for the ability to search.  If you just use music then you can set up playlists.

Since it's a free application I recommend you try it out.  It works very well for playing music but as I said before, it doesn't support playing CDG files so you'd require a sepereate player for that.

There's nothing wrong with Winamp.  I still use Winamp 5 and Windows Media Player 9 with plugins during shows!

I also use Soundforge, Acid, Virtual DJ, Sax n Dotty, etc.....I use a ton of software on 2 laptops during my shows.  I find a good use for each app, and still find the "old" and "ghetto" winamp very powerful to use.

I never said anything was wrong with winamp - just that for playing music I've found this to work very well.  For playing music at home I still use winamp and find it very usable.  When I start doing shows on a computer I'll likely use winamp as my player unless I find something more usable in the meantime (not likely but possible).
