The question came up again on another forum do I need effects?  S0 Im sitting here in my little apt with part of a system the efx went out in the dfx12 so I gotta see wats goin on. I recorded a demo of Folsom Prison and its not as dramatic as a live demo because converting back to mp3 degrades it somewhat. Couldnt sing because the the one legged guy next door starts beating on the wall with his cane if we start playing music.

Demo

Download and unzip  it would be best to play on a system rather than the comp speakers.  Folsdemo is raw right from a soundchoice.  Folsdemo1 is wats coming out of the mixer fully processed.  The efx used on this demo is 198 on a Microverb 4 which is a 1/4 note delay with subtle gate and chorus. I usually run a little chorus on the mixer but like I said its broke. The delay is a general setting for music with this tempo and hiphop  but sometimes I'll pump it up and adjust the delay for a slapback1 effect. Depends on the time of night and the crowd.

Then some people say what does a Bbe 362 do? Ive tried it and dont notice any difference. Compare the lead guitar rolls and see if you can tell a difference. Also used ia an Aphex 104 with big bottom for bass... My only regret I couldnt sing along but maybe next time.... So let me know wat you think.....

The only thing I can add to this is vocal efx live are harder to do but generally need plate and chorus.. I didnt normalize and the proc audio is a little louder...

The 2nd one to me sounded tinny.  I don't know if the time stamp means anything but it was the one recorded at 4:55 (or sent).

The BBE is a frequency readjuster.  It can be used in recordings to brighten up dull sounding recordings (with moderation).  It basically analizes the frequencies & time aligns them.  In a live situation it can help thicken up a mix on a smaller system as long as it's not overdone - no processor should be used too extensively.  From what I heard on the 2 demos, the process was set a little too high - if the BBE was being used, thus resulting in the tin sound.  This was to my ears.
