Tough question....ME   I like POP HITS MONTHLY better...Buts that's just me !
Some songs maybe better on TOPS HITS  and some may not.  Don't get me wrong I do have TOPS HITS in my library and will buy a disc if I like it ..But If I have a choice I'll buy POP HITS over Top HITs

The reason I'm asking is that I've fallen behind on my music buying...i want to get the entire 2004 series, and i've only been able to find it discounted in the Top Hits collection.  Any ideas?

I've been getting THM lately... just because of the format that they put their stuff in... there's a difference, but it's really not THAT big a deal to me. they're both good song manufacturers, so whatever quality issues you might be concerned about is next to nothing.

I will admit that I prefer PHM over THM overall... but they both have their own stinkers. Just like SC, CB, and other manufacturers.

I prefer Top Hits.  I find them fuller and caompared the two, but both are very good products.  Check different places for prices on complete sets of both.

I find just the opposite.  PHM to me are much more accurate & full sounding to me.  I will & do buy THM, but only because they SEEM to be able to get "licensing" that no one else can so they have songs that aren't available anywhere else.

I have both in my library.  I prefer THM but find little difference between the two.  PHM went through a "dark period" in 2001 to 2003 where there quality of lyrics was simply HORRIBLE.  For me between the two it's like debating the country music version of a song on Sound Choice versus ChartBusters.  They both are excellent manufacturers, and when it comes to country ChartBusters gets the slighest edge, but you're splitting hairs.

Sorry - probably not giving you the definitive answer you wanted.

Just to follow up --If you filling some holes in your library and you found what you need on TOP HITS MONTHLY and they are DI$COUNTED ... Go for it

When you compare the two side by side DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR Its a toss up which is better!!  But if you mention SALES or Discounts !!!   Go with the least expensive
brand of the two ..YOU CAN'T GO WRONG EITHER WAY

I have discs in my library starting from 1995 to present concerning THM and PHM. I find that they are equally good and singers never complained of any versions from either.

How about " Pop Hits Today" ? Same quality as far as I'm concerned.

These were a PHM spawn - some still claim they were in fact the same company since PHM stopped on a particular date & PHT/CHT (Country Hits Today) started the very next release continuing the series where PHM left off.
I have most of them as well & they were the same in every aspect as the PHM of the day.  But then PHT quit making discs & PHM resumed where PHT left off.  Fairly ODD if they weren't the same company.
