Wow- "the girl" by Michael Montgomery- so sad...
there are some cool songs you guys have listed..

I really like Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls...
"And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive"

I also like Amsterdam by Coldplay, (love when the drums come in!)

"Come on, my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
If i, if I'd only waited
I'd not be stuck here in this hole
But time is on your side
Its on your side now
Not pushing you down and all around
It's no cause for concern

Come on, oh my star is fading
And I see no chance of release
And I know I'm dead on the surface
But I am screaming underneath
Stuck on the end of this ball and chain
And I'm on my way back down again
Stood on a bridge, tied to the noose
Sick to the stomach
You can say what you mean
But it won't change a thing
I'm sick of the secrets
Stood on the edge, tied to a noose
You came along and you cut me loose"

I also really get into ambient and instrumental/orchestral music- one of my favorites is the soundtrack to "A Beautiful Mind"... ah, one of the most beautiful soundtracks I think!  There is a reoccuring musical theme that is most beautiful played in the track titled "Car chase".  I'm not sure if it is the music by itself or the POWERFUL movie that accompanied it, but that song almost makes me cry- it's like I can feel the confusion/torment/pain... awesome song. :)  Then to balance that out is the track "Prize of your life" or something- the ultimate opposite, a song of hope and healing.  And of course the ending track sung by Charlotte Church- lovely!

Well that was a lot! :)

Anything But Ordinary by Avril Lavigne....

To walk between the lines
Would make my life so boring
I want to know that I have been to the extremes
So knock me off my feet
C'mon now, give it to me
Anything to make me feel alive

Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please

I agree that there are many different songs that represent different points in your life.

Broken Wing, would relate to a very abusive relationship I was in many years ago.

She loved him like he was the last man on earth.
Gave him everything she ever had.
He'd break her spirit down, then come loving up on her.
Give a little, then take it back.

Cowboy Take Me Away, relates to how I felt when I decided to move from where I was born and raised in No. CA to small town Nebraska.

I wanna walk, not run.
I want to skip and not fall.
I want to look at the horizon, and not see a building standing tall.
I wanna be the only one, for miles and miles
Except for maybe you, and your simple smile
Yes, that sounds so good to me.

But these days, I would have to say I've been relating to a couple of songs:

Girls Night Out.....I just had a baby a year ago, so when I go to my gigs, I feel like it's my time.
Live Like You Were Dyin......I think I relate to that one just because the reality that I'm getting old is starting to show it's face (my 20 yr. high school reunion is this year!)
Lastly, I Could Not Ask For More, because I had a baby last year, and that kinda wraps up all my feelings for her into a nice song.
