I don't see this functionality around, but I may be missing it... does anyone know if there is a way I can mark certain singers as favorites and either get email notifications of their subs, or perhaps just have a page I can go to see all favorites' subs I haven't commented on yet?

Every day it seems like I find a new favorite, and I'd hate to forget some of these singers and miss their stuff if I'm gone for a day or two. :)

Function not yet available.

However, it is in the development stages...

Yeah, EB :) I've been pushing for that one a while also. I'm always missing songs by my 'favorite' folks. Then I feel bad! heh :)

Thanks Phill! :)

Awesome, glad to hear it! Ooh, while I'm throwing out wishes, it would be wonderful if you could see who's marked you as a favorite... :)

Wasn't there discussion two months back about a jukebox type feature, where a person could in fact mark particular subs and play them back to back on a media player ?  Or was that concept dead in the water due to the cost of such a feature ?

yeah, Steve.. I think Phill is toying with that idea as well (last I heard), but this is a different thing altogether. :)

Well, I don't know about recording constantly.. Lol, i suck lately:) BUT< i have been around LOTS waiting for you on msn!!! My name lately is always "where's SEBY!" ONly today, did I actually find ya:) Lol. Gilly always has time for a little bit 'o' seby..... (or a lot;)

I do think it is a terrific idea though.. well, except for knowing WHO has you on their list.. that freaks me out a little.. if I want to crush on someone, i don't want them to KNOW!:)

I assume she's talking about adding another preference setting to the control panel Seby. A "buddy" type marker linked to Singers Showcase that would notify a person via Email, or popup when their buddy posts a new song.  Just a feature comparable to the current "notify me" when a PM is sent, or when a post is responded to.

Multiple markers was what made me think of the "juke box" feature, which had been discussed.

Oh, the jukebox would be just awesome! I already know several songs I'd be adding to it, because I already tend to go back and listen to certain songs multiple times. That would be an amazing addition. Glad to know it's at least being thought about!

The concept had been broached.  I don't recall as to whether or not it was feasible cost-wise

One advantage of course would be time saved listening. The capability of marking particular singers, lining up their songs, and listening to them all simultaneously in jukebox type format would save time.  Of course another consideration that might not be a good thing, is that such a feature might also enable people to burn others material onto CD. I'm not really sure. My guess would be if a person is resourceful enough, that can already be done.

It WOULD be nice to have a 'download' option for each song. I know there is already a way to recover songs you have listened to, but I haven't had much luck with it. I can never find the song I want when I try to go that route.

Yep...there are programs that capture streaming audio and/or video.

Yup ~~ Love this idea ..... BUT ~~~ gotta be SURE to go back and comment at sometime.  The biggest problem this would create, IMO ... would be a HUGE number decrease in the number of comments.  For me ... and I know I speak for many others, the comments/reply section is where we get to "chat" and "know each other".  Would HATE to see that compromised.  Otherwise ~~ Love having the Jukebox or Fav's list options.

:handshake:

Yeah, that's why *I* would probably never use the 'jukebox' thing... I always comment as I'm listening and it wouldn't be possible to keep up with who is doing what song & comment on each one if they were in a 'jukebox' format. I know that I would end up not commenting on several folks.

Might use it to listen to some 'favorites' I had already commented on, but I dunno.

I'll try to hook up with, Cindy, about those files... it's been explained to me before and I found some of the older ones I had listened to, but could never find the right ones when i wanted them. :( Anyway, laters..

I tend to comment while listening to songs as well.

Here's what I'd love to see: the ability to check a box when you leave a comment that adds that song to a jukebox, allowing you to play it back later. That way you'd HAVE to leave a comment if you wanted the song on your playlist, so comments might even be increased a little, and those favorite songs would be easy to hear as often as you want. I don't know how many times I've surfed back to re-play some of my favorite songs I've already commented on, like HotBloodedLilVixen's "Ballroom Blitz," JAWZ's "Jump, Jive and Wail," and Electrophoretics' "Love Profusion," among many, many others. :)
