And that would be: rats online who've:

A. promised stuff to ya that they never delivered to ya.

B. promised stuff to ya that they never INTENDED to deliver to ya.

C. promised stuff to ya that they never intended to deliver to ya and they don't give a darn about keeping their word, doing what they say they're gonna do, OR how it mighta hurt ya.

"Stuff" means backings AND planned duets.

Have a nice ole day! Be careful bout sharing your cheese.

Can we replace the meaning of "stuff" with our own word that fits well there?

Cuz, like Justy promised me some "stuff" I never got....

And, I ordered some "stuff" online, and it never got delivered....

oh, and I made some "stuff", and i intended to set the timer on the oven, but forgot, and now am really hurt that justy didn't inform me that it was SMOKING< AND BURNT!!

You can sub anything ya want in there for "stuff". I just hate being lied to and led on. HATE it. It's wrong and mean. And hurtful. And sucks. I was brought up to always do what I say I'll do, which leads to me always wondering why some (a lot of) people feel no need to do such in their lives.

OK,  I missed this at first.  Glad I reread this prior to posting.  I don't put much stock in promises from folks I don't know well.  Naturally I would hope I can trust them, otherwise I wouldn't even wish to talk with them. None-the-less, unless it's a venue such as Ebay that implements certain third party tools to help establish trust, IE.... Feedback profiles,  PayPal, Mediating venues.  I never assume people I don't  know well, (let alone have never spoken with or met) will not possibly let me down.

Wonder if it's different here.  I'd think that just like places like Ebay.... A person who has been here a LONG time,  and has done many duets with others, is a paying member with many submissions, is not unlike the Ebay power-seller who is less likely to let you down.  Online the best assurance we have is past performance being indicative of future actions sometimes.

That sounds very practical Steven....the prob is that I always keep my promises, and can't understand why others wouldn't. And when I can't keep them for some reason (HERE'S THE KICKER) I LET THE PEOPLE KNOW. I COMMUNICATE WITH THEM. I TRY TO MAKE UP FOR IT. I APOLOGIZE FOR IT. All within a reasonable time, like within their lifetime. This is how I was raised. To be accountable. That's why I get so confused when I get lied to or let down, with no explanation or communique.

I know Tigger, yet here's the thing.  We grow up in a world where we are taught all sorts of neat stuff such as "Do unto others", "Love they neighbor", "You scratch my back I'll scratch yours"...

Than we get into corporate america, or the business world in general, where things change.... These ideals we are taught in church, grade school, and at home soon become  "You scratch my back, I'll stab yours", and "Business is Business". Seems that the childhood, and sunday school niceties, are displaced by the no holds barred reality for many that money and status become the #1 motivating factors  :(

Makes a person wonder which is "true" human nature.  To be true to your word, or to watch out for number 1 only.

Just my thoughts on this

Tigger, I think that's commendable, and the way it should be.  I'm the same way.

Yet my outlook on human nature  (Especially regarding internet interrelating) isn't quite as nice as it was 30 years back.  I don't expect as much from people anymore.

(yes I know,  the internet didn't exist 30 years back)

(rather than make a separate post I decided to edit this in)

Another possibility Tigger is,  (and I don't know the details you speak of) is that some people have a tough time saying "no" to a person.  Certain people will say they will do something that they never intended to do because they don't know how to say "no".  Is it possible that a person never wanted to duet to begin with ?  I realize this doesn't make the situation correct.   Yet believe me,  certain people really do not know how to say no to another person.

Another possibility is something came up, and real life got in the way of internet groups.  Without knowing the details, it's tough to know why they didn't get in touch with you.  Until they are confronted as to why they never got in touch with you,  you can't really know.

It never occurred to me that this might be in regard to an actual recent event in here. Particularly regarding two individuals I like.  My mouth is now shut

You guys, you know what is totally bizarre?? I subbed You Lie about an hour before I found out about the thing that ticked me off. Then later I was thinking, man how weird and ironic that is.

I don't mean to get you guys into the middle of this...we don't have to keep talking about it. I was just so mad last nite I vented here.

Thanks for coming by and talking to me all you sweeties....Steven, Badsinger, and Gilly.

For real, my last sub has nothin' to do with it...see ya at SS Badsinger, and here, Gilly and Steven.

LOL.   OK.... Since I haven't been to SS in a week I thought Badsingers statement:
Quote:

was a response to my statement to Tigger:

Quote:

I was afraid I was getting between you two LOL

Glad I didn't

Hi Tigger,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're running into the kind of problems you are. I've never planned any duets with anyone (not sure I'd even know how) and the only person who I ever took up on their offer to send me a backing (cause they loved the song and wanted to hear me sing it) did send it. But then that's probably a different situation then, say, if I just wanted a backing so I could do the song for the sake of doing it.  I know I could probably make that kind of request but I just feel "funny" about asking so I guess I just don't run into the problem of people not sending stuff because I just feel like I'd be inconveniencing someone by asking.

Now, if someone makes the special offer of sending me the backing to a song, and I haven't been able to find it on my own (the main criteria I set) and I really, really feel like I've just got to do that song, then I would expect them to send it. And if I hadn't received it in say a week, then I'd probably email them and gently asking them if they were still interested in sending the backing. If they didn't reply either with an intent to do so soon or with the actual backing then I'd probably just let it go and figure "Hey, if I was really meant to sing that song at this particular time then that backing would be in my email box by now." And as for the person who promised - oh, well, I'll eventually find the backing but they are going to have to live with the broken promise they made to me - and I'm sure I wouldn't be the first -  so while I may have experienced a "short term loss" of not having the backing (something really unimportant on the scale of things) they'll have to live with the "long term loss" of having all those broken promises rolling around in where ever they may store their conscience.

Believe me, I know about people being dishonest with us, Tigger. I know enough and was moved enough to even sub the Billy Joel song Link: Honesty a few weeks ago.

If you want to add another piece of irony to this thread - you mentioned subbing "You Lie" before encountering the problem that broke the camel's back, so to speak and I just came from my profile where because I'm almost at my 10 song limit I was looking to see what songs I was going to delete...and Honesty was one that I had been considering the most - but then I just on whim decided to check in here first to see what was happening...and there was your post about "stuff."

Funny how things work out sometimes, huh? (where is that stupid scratching your head smiley when you need it anyway).

Well, have a good day. You look like a person who probably enjoys a good LOL laugh so just laugh  LOL this whole "stuff" thing off and go give somebody you love a   hug.

Here's one from me to get you rolling...

Badsinger.  I've had quite a busy week.  I popped into SS for the first time in over a week last night.  Just seems that between people I know that chat, and sing.... I get more involved in the chatting aspects, and listening/commenting on submissions becomes more dispensible as time becomes more scarce.  Somewhat Ironic actually.  What attracted me to this place was the talent on Singers Showcase,  yet I became less involved with that aspect, and more involved with the chatter here in the boards.

Thanks Christopher for taking the time to post to me about this....it seems like it's over now, I'm feeling a lil over it. I still don't know why there's so many dishonest people. Glad you understand how I feel though. Just had to vent it out. And will take all promises with a huge grain of salt, about the size of an iceberg, now.
