Does anyone else go thru this crapola?? First of all, one of my cats will just meow and howl at me while I'm singing. I try to pet him. He still meows and howls. I can't figger out what the hxll he wants. Eventually he'll jump up and step on some key that ruins everything so I end up throwing him out.
THEN, my boyfriend doesn't like having to the constant repeating over and over when I record, cuz computer's so close to tv. So I hurry and hurry before he gets home and of course I never have enough time.
Irritation, annoyance, argh, PMS.

Yep...i hear ya girly!! Try recording with 2 little girls running around? They both would rather join me..or scream..or laugh...or just be overall obnoxious but ONLY while i'm trying to record...
Or then you have my honey..been off work 2.5 months on Workers Comp..so I am never alone any more to record. Either I beg him to go to our bedroom, or turn down the tv as the computer is in the living room..
So..that means...very very few subs from me....i'm going thru withdrawals...
I feel your pain hon!

Lol, yuppers... I hear issues while recording... and I immediatly think...
Skylah.
Kids, they ALWAYS ruin the recording:) Lol, i have no idea how many of mine have sky saying "mommy, you sound BAD, stop singing".. Heck, I have even posted one of them, the little monster;)
Oh, that, and I don' tnotice the battery is dying, and the laptop goes dead in the middle, and USUALLY when I am doing really well;)
In my old apt.. when I was too loud, the neighbors would either pound on the walls, or sing along. I don't know which was worse.

I record most of the time when my bf is at work and kids at school. BUT when I do record and they are home. What I find annoying is my bf If I am trying to record a song that he knows by heart , he wants me to sing it exactly like the actual singer. He grabs the mic from me and tells me, NO LIKE THIS! she goes HIGHER here, she does the nuances like this etc. .. NOW that is ANNOYING
Baby,if you read this ...I LOVE YOU !

I have McAfee SpamKiller on my computer. EVERY SINGLE DAY there is a new "update" to install. When this update is available, this stupid little box pops up on the bottom right-hand side by my clock followed by an even more annoying "DING DING!!!" I never know when it's going to appear. Generally, this happens right in the middle of a recording.
The recording itself does not pick up the dinging noise, but it does record me gasping from shock. The "ding ding" is ten times louder through my headphones that I have on while recording and ALWAYS scares the h-ll outta me. The gasping is almost always followed by some expletive. I'm just singing along, let's say 'Gold Dust Woman' for example: "Well did she make you cry, make you break down.... shatter your illusion of love? And is it over now, do you knooooooow hoooooow to pi-DING DING!!!! {gasp!} SH*T!!!! SON OF A...." And then I have to start allllll over again.
It's either that, or my phone rings.... and that DOES get picked up through the mic. Never fails. And always when I'm almost done with the song and it was going well. Gotta start all over again. And the next time I try it, it never quite sounds as good as it would have if I'd have finished that first time.
Other than that, I really don't have many interruptions. I don't have kids, or animals and I don't live with a boyfriend who would tell me I suck, soooo.... Aside from the phone and my stupid spamblocker, it's usually just me that annoys myself. Gotta clear my throat or cough. Or that note sucked, etc.

!!! OMG DEB! That was hillarious!!!
I guess I'm pretty lucky... I RARELY get interrupted... I almost ALWAYS record when nobody's home... and if Ty's home... he's usually in the bedroom watchin tv really loud.
HOWEVER!! there's been twice when I've recorded when he's home and he'll walk in the office just to grab something and he's usually really quiet, but there's no way in hell I can sing in front of him, so I start wavin at him to get the (@*&$*&) OUT! and then he looks at me like I'm playing charades.... which leads to me goin "UGHHGHGHGHHG!!! GET OUT!" which makes a lovely addition to my slow sappy love songs!

what's he grabbin' Crystal?? !! That's funny with regard to your "redheads are blondes in heat"!!
Myself, I would have the biggest problems with the phone ringing while I'm RIGHT in the middle of recording a spectacular ((for me)) note.
"Oy! Vey! Why Bother?"

Anyone that has, or has had birds, and is a musician knows that birds compete for volume. My budgie, and cockatiel used to scream when I played guitar or piano. I have a few recordings with constant bird screaming, and chirping in the background.
It's actually funny because they are shouting along with the music... Just something I accepted. Louder I played, louder they got.

Kids are numero uno on my list, followed by inlaws knocking on the door. Nothing is more frustrating as you near the end of the 11th take of a 5 minutes song
and one kid hits another, there is a blood curdling shriek, crying, thudding footsteps on creaky stairs, and havoc.
We are briefly staying in a noisy neighborhood with with billion barking dogs, an over active fire department, who then sets off the dog to perform subs of their own in octaves even unknown to God.
And there's the cute little creaky door when people go on and off line that always comes through on the recording. The joyful experience of "um it wasn't on record".
The breath that spikes your track to 20 decibels, the scratch of the mike against your beard (sound like some trapped animal with claws trying to escape from a chicken coup) or our favorite bird who lives here launching into the theme from
the Andy Griffith Show. He knows the entire thing.
Invariably, without fail, it is on the VERY LAST track when you think, oh my God, I finally got that tricky part and hit that note I will never hit again in this lifetime when it happens.
