Hi Steven,
Finally got back here...
What I'm doing is essentially playing and singing the same thing over again but with the guitar keyed up/or down from the original. Then just singing along with the new guitar, and keeping the original vocal very low. For now this helps me to get off the melody line. I also have to key the guitar down such that the original vocal sounds ok with it, then I sing the new vocal and the two vocal harmonize...
But its kind of mechanical. Like, I can't start off the same, move into harmony, then join back...I still need to develop my ear no gettin' around that.
