Hey guys New To These Forums, but I need to know step by step how to rip a SCDG to my pc. I am using PCDJKJ and have been for awhile, but for my gigs I have been using a CAVS JB-99. I am wondering if anyone knows whether I can convert a SCDG to MP3-g file to use in PCDJ. Please Email me. Thanks in advance

Brian,
do a search on scdg. I don't understand it all per se, but I know that a couple people have done some extensive research.
Also, you're email addy will NOT show on your post when you just type it in normally.

SCDG is CAVS' proprietary format -- if there is a tool to do what you need you should look for it on their website.

SCDGs can't be decoded. They're made up of dat files. The original MCG/MP3 files, which are encoded to make the dat files, can be converted to MP3+Gs. The MP3+Gs can be converted to bin files using MP3+GToolz. These bin files can then be burned to disk using CDRWin.

So you're saying that I Can't just buy a SCDG and convert it to MP3-G?? Or I can I just need to do many steps to get that way?

Sorry to wake up an old thread. Many of you have probably ran into some issues when ripping SCDG disks to your PC.
Proper way to Rip a Super CDG (SCDG) to your PC.
1) Place disk in DVD rom drive 2) Create a folder and label it the same name as the disk. eg: "Chartbuster Essential 450 Volume 1" 3) Open the DVD and copy the folder of CAVS_MCG and all it's contents to your new folder 4) Open your favourite SCDG ripper software and Browse the new folder and rip away.
You will find doing it this way mush better for CDG graphics quality.
Cheers!

Is CDGFix the only option for fixing those pesky multiplex tracks? I typically rip SCDGs with kJams

frede wrote: Is CDGFix the only option for fixing those pesky multiples tracks? I typically rip SCDGs with kJams It's not the only option but it is a good option. If you rip your SCDG's directly from DVD drive you will get that result. Try copying the Disk contents to a folder on your PC first then rip that folder. I find the results are much more desirable.

I posted in another thread a very simple way to do this using Audacity, splitting the audio track, deleting the right channel, changing the left channel to mono and then exporting the new mp3. super easy to do and takes about 10 seconds per song. the end result is you have tracks with no vocals other than background singers.

No way I'm doing that for 3,000 songs!

Frede, It might be easier to rerip the SCDG using a free program called CDGRip. There is a setting that allows for MPX removal during conversion.

CDG rip only does cdg. It doesn't work with super CDGs.

Doesnt your software play multiplex discs and have the ability to remove the vocal while playing?
