Hi there Moon Goddess I got an excellent hint about Adobe Audition, tried it, and immediately loved it! I mean it should be quite easy to use from the very beginning and it's versatile too. If you can get a hold of it, that's what I suggest for you.
The last one I did I recorded my voice dry on minidisk and all the effects were added afterwards. That's probably the easiest way anyway. Then just combine it with the backing track and you're ready to go!
And of course, welcome to the forum. Hope to see you around!

Hi! I came to this forum to post my own "hello" and it turned out that the first post I looked at was yours and - what a coincidence :O - we became members the same day! (My post profile on the left says I joined Feb 18th but my Singer's Showcase profile says Feb. 19th, so go figure :thinkin: .) But, anyway, I'll be looking for your submissions after you find the software you're comfortable with. There's probably a lot of software available. I started using something called Blaze Wave Creator because they offered a free demo version and when it seemed to do everything I needed, I ended up buying the software which was only around $20.00. It seems to get the job done and if you'd like to hear some samples of what it can do, here are a couple of links to my songs for you to listen to:
"It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" - This is my most recent sub and the song where I've used a mix with the most sound effects because the lyrics required the sound of "different voices" to sing various lyrics. Click on http://www.singersshowcase.com/song.php?id=4472&act1=12&act2=13919
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - This wasn't an actual "mix." The results you hear are just from turning on the CD player, turning on the Blade Software, recording everything and then adding the "echo" effect to the entire track (which I felt was appropriate for the song because of it's fantasy nature). http://www.singersshowcase.com/song.php?id=4472&act1=28&act2=12524
If you listen to either of the above songs, you'll be presented with a page of other songs if you'd like more examples. Here is a link to the Blaze Wave Creator software site if you'd like to download their free trial version.
http://www.blazeaudio.com
Hope this info helps! I look forward to hearing your subs!
Sincerely,
Christopher
