Well. I sat in line all night Held the place for some snotty little braggarts, while they went up to THEIR room and slept.... THey had about 300 people show up....some people were in line at 6 pm, on friday.....and others didn't show up until 8 am the next day..
I got in line at around 11:30, because, justy had gone to bed anyways, and they had a wireless network, so I just sat online.
Get this. When we registered..... THEY REVERESED THE ORDER. And took the LAST people.. FIRST. so, ALL of those people that showed up FIRST, are STILL waiting to audition, RIGHT now. ALL THAT TIME... what a waste.
I almost decided not to sing at all After all night with no sleep, AND the fact that I was surrounded by weeeird 16 year olds, and their bragging parents.. I wanted to leave. Justy convinced me to stay. I auditioned. They took in a group of five. WE sat outside of an audition room, watching crouwds of people come and leave, with yellow sheets, etc. we waited outside of our room for 1 hr 10 min. Everyone else took about5 minutes. The first guy sang you are so beautiful.... he forgot the words, and started laughing. THe next girl sang an alcia keys song.. AND, not only was she horrid, but, she forgot HER words. The next person started to sing... and then.. simply stopped out of fear. I sang and actually got through the whole song. I was sooo proud of myself, becuase I have acheived what I had set out to do, which was simply sing, in front of other people, I got a mini clap fromthe judges/producers.. The girl after me sang something in french. SHe was alright. They then told us that none of us had a strong enough voice, compared to the better people they had heard, and that I wasn't "pop" enough. THIS was after making us wait outside the audition door, while they had a 1 hour lunch break, although none of us had eaten yet that day, and it was noon hour.
I regret going, to be honest. It was a waste of time, and I am horribly disapointed with the show. There was a mentally challenged young man, there, with his guitar, singing. yes, he was quite bad. BUT< they sat him down in a chair, and got a camera on him, and I swear, they got 2 hours of footage with "jon dore" making an (@$%!) out of him. I was shocked. really, Disgusted.
They had people come out, and calm the nerves of the upset singers, before tehy auditioned... REALLY talk them up, and tell them how AWESOME they weere..... when... they WEREN"T. I SAW baaaaaad horrible people make it through, and thought, how sad, that they were told how awesome they are, and are just there for entertainment.
And then, I thought. Jeez, what a sellout I am... and how upset I was withmyself for going. Justin agrees.
The end of my idol experience:)
Waste of time and money, and I now need a coffee. Oh, and next time? When they tell you that they want something different and unique? Sing mariah carey, or kelly clarkson, or celine dion, if you want to get through.... because, really, that is all I heard. I can honestly say, that I only heard ONE girl, whom I thought had any talent. She didn't make it through.
Good night. I need some sleep. This is one experience, i do NOT need to ever experience again.

ahhhhhhh sorry it was bad bad bad but I enjoyed chattin with ya while ya waited in line ... want a definition of FLUFF??? ya all just heard directly from Gilly exactly what the problem with fluff is... she had to sit thru it all night in line and even saw how "people in the biz" use it to make their show entertaining... they don't want unique singers- they want someone they can clone and make a bajillion dollars with and then move on to the next clone... you all can have your rankings, your 10's, your critiques and your fluff and i hope ya choke on it... see ya on the flip side gilly... just FYI- I'd buy your record- tig

Lol, whether or not anyone would buy my albums is pointless... If i HAD made it, i wouldn't have GONE. The end. I knew that. I think... seeing the whole process close up... made me.. well, dislike the whole idea, and that is what bothered me so. I pretty much knew immedately, that I didn't fit in, and wasn't at all like the other people that were there auditioning.. (not that I am special, by any means) But.... even in something general, like taste in music? I COMPLETELY differed from EVERY OTHER auditioner. Every single one. And I heard A LOT. everyone wanted to show off, that was ALL I ever heard. Too much "reflections" and "hero" and "power of love".
Gag me.
Lol, i should have known better:) HEather, at least YOU made it farther than me:) Even pregnant, you were more marketable:) .
Love you all:) Dont worry, I wasn't planning on quitting my day job:)

OMFG Gilly!!!!!
omg
I am speechless.... well almost... let's just say that i'm not allowed to express myself on here the way I feel inclined to.
Especially after all that crap about "we're looking for someone unique & different"...
I am SO sorry hun... well, you know... i'm not really sorry for encouraging you to go... I will never regret that because you ARE the 'real deal'. I regret you having to go through such an ordeal though. The screeners suck.
We love you Gilly... you are our superstar.

Gilly... I'm very sorry to hear about how terrible the whole thing was.. And I feel for ya girl I do..
BUT -- you did still sing in front of people!! YAY!!! :hi5:
That is something positive!!!
One thing that I've gained from you and the other's talking about their experiences has been that I am not as "in love" with these shows anymore. I used to be "OMG - I HAVE TO WATCH THIS" and I'm not anymore.. now that I've heard some of the actual stories behind the show. And that's great because I'm trying to cut down tv anyways .. more time for karaoke then!!

Gilly, first of all I'd like to thank you for writing this long and very interesting report about what happened. And only second, I'm sorry you didn't make it through. The fact is that the idol competition is obviously not for you at the moment. BUT, it'd be great if you'd make it to television because you'd get to show your talent to those that would respect it.
Pop music market is so overloaded these days that it's almost impossible to stand out with even a lot of work. You just have to be born to be what the judges and producers want. At the same time you must carry the characteristics of a model, a unique personality and usually an ok singer too I'm sure you are all of this but the judges didn't see it that way. This is an old saying, but it's also possible that you just weren't ready yet. Don't lose all hope about idol contest just yet. Go back next year with a different approach and see what's in store for you. You may be surprised by the outcome! After all, all positive and negative experiences help you grow as a person and I don't think either is ever a waste of time!
I told you earlier that in my opinion, country music would fit you perfectly. I wish you would try it out regardless how much you hate it now. I didn't like all kinds of music myself until I started singing karaoke. I just grew into different genres while I was singing and listening music that was new to me.
Keep your head up 'cause you're a wonderful person and you will make a difference one day!

That's right, it was just YOUR way of making an important statement. Ever tried laughing inwards? It's almost as refreshing but most importantly, a clever thing to do!
But aren't we missing the point here.

wtf?
ok, ignoring that then..
Anyways, Jee, you must have missed my point.. i WON"T be returning to any idol contests;) not my thing. This was simply my... test, as we can best put it. I have a severe anxiety problem towards performing in public, which began as a younger child during an unfornate incident involving a trombone solo. I haven't been able to perform since then, although< i have no problem ACTING foolish in public.
AND, i DON"T want to make it on television. that was my goal today. To completely avoid the cameras. DIdn't always work, but, I hide behind large people well. Secondly, I have no desire to pursue singing as a career. Music, maybe. Vocals? no.
Ok, now, done with gilly's disclaimer. Just wanted to point those facts out.
Oh.. and.. WHERE did this COUNTRY thing come from?! from WHERE do you derive COUNTRY from MY voice!?

I could've never believed that your motivation to go to an idol contest was just a test especially since you said it was a waste of money. It sounded more like you were disappointed that you didn't get through and that your talent wasn't recognized even though you mentioned that the atmosphere wasn't something you liked. There are easier ways to get to perform in public, no? But now that it's done, hopefully it was healthy for you Quote: Oh.. and.. WHERE did this COUNTRY thing come from?! from WHERE do you derive COUNTRY from MY voice!?
In my opinion, you have an excellent country voice. For me, the tone of yours would work in almost any country song. Force yourself to sub a Bonnie Raitt or even a Shania Twain song and check your feedback afterwards. You'd find other similar opinions to mine I'm sure
Please don't say you don't want to pursue a career as vocalist. Why not? You'll disappoint all your loyal fans that are holding thumbs up for ya! :worship:
