I'm just curious how you guys feel when you post a song that gets fewer TOTAL views than another song's number of comments (I'm assuming that there will always be people who will listen and not comment, so the number of views will be much higher than the number of views). Just wondering- I'm not complaining at all!

Sorry, I don't follow the question. One song that has fewer listening hits, than comments ? Or comparing what appears to be interest in your song, with another persons song ?

I'm glad you brought that point up, Steve. I was meaning to compare one song to another. In other words, one song's total number of hits (views) versus a completely different song's number of comments (the number of hits will usually be larger than its own number of comments because there are people who will listen without leaving comments). Hope this clears things up.

hmm well... I don't know..
I think I would eventually be discouraged if no-one ever commented on my subs... although I think if that happened, I would just become more motivated to submit wilder and wilder stuff until finally, folks would come and listen.
I guess I don't often have a problem with being ignored.
Phoenix... right, I remember who you are now.. if your subs are being ignored it's probably because most folks aren't aware of your name change and don't realize who you are. You were pretty popular before, as I recall.
I'm sure folks will start listening again. Hang in there.

Some of the views are from people that aren't registered (like my parents). They have no interest in viewing or comments they just like to listen.
It doesn't bother me so much, but when I finally get time to submit it would be nice if I had more people telling me if I suck or not. I'm always looking for ways to improve and it's a pain when no one makes any recommendations about how to improve.
Either way I sub because I like to sing and I hope that someone is getting some enjoyment out of my subs. Nothing more.

Now that Phill has fixed the SS to where you cannot comment unless you are a member, it makes complete sense to me that a song would have more views than comments. People who might be just cruising the site, seeing how the showcase functions, etc can listen to the songs posted, but cannot comment unless they register. You just never know... your sub could be the one to pull in a new member!
Another thing to consider here is the fact that sometimes people may listen to a sub more than once. As a test, go back to one of your own and hit the listen button. Then go back to your profile and look at your total views. The number goes up even when you listen to your own! I tried it myself once to see how it works.
I personally don't find it discouraging because I know I have listened to many subs myself and might have liked them but didn't have the time right then to leave a comment. Perhaps the time factor wasn't even an issue: There are some subs that I've listened to while reading the comments others have left... and I see that everyone has already said what I might have left as a comment anyway and I feel like I would just be repeating what others before me have already stated.
I don't know if you go to karaoke venues or not, but I like to think of it this way: While it's your turn on stage, most of the people in attendance are listening to you, even if they're talking to someone else you are still being heard. Let's say there are 30 people at the place you're at for karaoke. Those are your 30 views. How many of those 30 applauded? No way to tell for sure, but probably most of them did. But, how many of them came up to you specifically to applaud you for your efforts? Those are your comments. I feel grateful if one or two people came over and told me they liked my song. So for me on the showcase, getting comments, no matter how many or how few I receive, I could never feel discouraged over it when I compare it to a live karaoke performance.
Anyway, just my opinions....

Lately I seem to have the habit of listening to a song, typing in a comment, then accidently pushing the Listen button again (especially when there are few other comments at that time) so the listen count is twice what it should be for my listen...guess I get a little spacey sometimes......Russ

The only time I get frustrated is that if I don't get too many comments, and I fear that, once the song leaves the first page, not many people will listen to it. There are so many submissions now, I think people are not commenting as much because they can barely keep up. But I feel, too, if I don't post a song often, then people forget about me and no one listens to my songs because it's been a few days...
BUT I can't say I really worry all that much about it. I'm glad when I get comments of ANY kind and that anyone listens. I just hope that the people listening are not commenting because they think it sucks!! LOL!
You can get really paranoid about these things, so it's best not to think too much about it...all you can do is post songs, comment on others' and just not worry about it.
