I have recently downloaded Kristal recording software.  When I played back my first recording, the voice track did not run in tandem with the music track.  In other words, my voicals were running behind.  What am I doing incorrectly?

I thank those of you who have set me in the right direction with recording assistance.  I am not sure if my pm's are being received so I am posting the question this way.

Best, cantstopsinging

There must be something I'm not seeing. I left click and it highlights but the voice is still not caught up with the music...

If  the track cannot be drag by left clicking/draging it, try

clicking just outside of the begining of the track then drag the cursor to the track making a rectengle. You will then see two markers at the begining of the track.

Now you can move the track left or right.

I think I have discovered something:  When I was having the problem matching the speed of the vocals to music, the music was mp3.

Just now I tried it with a  different track that was still wav, not converted to mp3 yet.  I added some vocals, then played back and it now matches..

Could this be the issue?  that the tracks I was using were mp3?

thanks

All this while were you recording on a seperate track from the backing trak?

I dont think the use of mp3 track was the source of problem I may be wrong here. But if that is the case then reconvert the mp3 track to wav. before importing it to KRISTAL.

I do not syn my vocal track with that of the backing when recording the vox.into the 2nd trax. cos I play the backing from a VCD player(Ineed to see the lyric to sing). I then syn the vox with the backing on playback thru WAVER. Once they are syn I then open up the mixer were I can then add the fx and balance the level. before mixingdown

ok, here's what happening;  originally I was recording my voice on a separate track ( wav2);  By trial and error I was able to record my voice on the same track as the music was on (wav1); perhaps I tried it the other way  first because that is the way it is done with Audacity..also I imported it as a wav in order to get it recorded.

Now the issue is in exporting:  I am trying to convert it to a mp3 after recording but it saves as a Kristal file.  I am comparing a sample recording of the same song done with Audacity as with Kristal.. so far haven't heard a difference..

Best,

J

Firstly, The idea of a tracking software is so that one can recording on seperate track. It will then be easy to manupulate the separates indiviualy.

Secondly after mixingdown the file is in wav. From there you can convert it to mp3 using lame at the requried bit rate that you want. Same as in Audacity.

Lastly There is not much of a diff. between the two software in tern of quality (some people may not agree here) the diff is in the interfaceand other ditails.  I find KRISTAL easier to use.

Agreed on all levels..I am going to see what I can do with it and when I make headway, will let you know..it's funny cause for me right now I find Audacity is easier to use.

Thanks for your assistance

hi, this could be, if you record your voice with effect. Record first your voice, and after them you can make track with effect: with edit-effect-reverb.

Hello Joyce - after sifting through these comments I can see that you are faced with a very challenging delema. Your peers have suggested various solutions, no doubt coming from many painstaking hours of experience. I, however, can suggest another option that may or may not be benificial to your current situation. Go to the hardware store, or perhaps your local Wal-Mart and buy a 15 lb. sledge hammer. Upon your return to home, take this newly purchased instrument and strike your computer with all the energy you can possibly muster up.

This action may not totally solve your problematic situation, but it most certainly will give you a certain level of satisfaction and a newly generated sense of control over your despirate situation.

Please understand that I am not responsible for any negative aspects of this possible solution :hi5:

Thanks though!!
