you shouldn't run a DJ/KJ system using
WINDOWS XP for HOME . What is the reason ????
The only difference between Windows Xp Hime edition and Windows XP Pro. Is That Windows XP Pro will allow you to network to a Doman rather than just a User Group. That is all in a nutshell. Everything else is the same. Before I Upgrades, I had home, and was using it on a Karaoke machine, and it worked just fine. It is also a Hook to make people think they are getting something they aren't. There are those people that think they have to have the best, and they go for pro thinking they are getting something extra. No such luck.
I do recommend, Using Norton Ghost 2003 or higher, and backing up your hard drive every so often. It will save you hours of reloading, when you make a mistake.
Another good idea, for anyone that cares.
If you are Getting a new computer. Get one with 2 hard drives. A small c: drive (system drive) no more than 30-40 gigs. and a large 2nd drive. possibly a 250 or 300 gig. The C: drive should be on the Primary master controller, and the d: should be on the secondary master controller. Install nothing but operating system (windows), and programs. on the c: drive.
You then keep all data, and anything that is important on the D: Drive. This allows you to backup your c: drive to the d: drive. it should only take up about 1.5 gig, and allows a 5-10 minute restore (reimage) of the c: drive.
Hope this helps anyone from having a disaster. This comes from Originally using a Raid system, (which had been originaly recommended). Windows xp doesn't take to raid very well.
