Ok...well, since our 'Karaoke Saturdays' really are the only time I get the chance to get dressed up nice, fix my hair, apply a little makeup (not to mention perfume in all the right places)...I do use this opportunity to give Old Paint something to think about other than singing! :oh yeah:

I dress pretty much the same at my shows that I dress in normal life.  Of course in my normal life I always try to look my best.

You would have to KNOW me personally and you would know my answer.

I'm just never seen in anything but jeans and a t-shirt. (unless it's cold, then a hooded sweatshirt or flannel)

So when I go sing.....it's plain ol' me. Jeans, usually old faded ones. (I detest new colored jeans & wash them usually a bunch of times before wearing anyhow).... and a t-shirt, usually boots cause you can line dance better in those than tenny shoes.

My only "dress up" would be I usually curl my hair rather than cramming it in a ponytail (my usual thing)..... and I guess I wear more makeup when I go out.

Funny question- cause I do see gals all the time just dressed to the hilt for karaoke- usually in a skimpy shirt too. (like exposing their upper half makes them sound better, lol) I guess maybe they do get the attention of the crowd & applause for it. Maybe that's what they are looking for. Me- I'd rather know any applause I get is because people liked my SONG, not what I'm wearing.

Oh- and please don't take that wrong- didn't mean I'm against people dressing up- I was referring to the bar fly girls only. There's atleast one or two in every venue, as far as I've seen.  Didn't mean anything against those who dress nice for karaoke.  My hubby WISHES I would.....but it's just not me.

I usually dress in clothes that I would be comfortable enough to bowl in!  LMAO

Since I don't go out to bars much for karaoke... only on occassion I sing after bowling at the bowling alley....

Most of my actual singing these days is done at home in my jammies! :oh yeah:

If I'm working the show, jeans and a sweater this time of year, and usually have shaved within the last 48 hours.

If I'm not working the show, jeans and a shirt I can play darts in, and probably haven't shaved since the last time I worked a show.

I dress the exactly as I do any other time.  Well, OK, not when I'm just hanging out at home in my PJs ;)

<---- I basically look like that all the time when I go out.  Sometimes I may do something a little more with my hair, but it's usually the same.  My makeup is always the same, no matter where I go.

I have a wide variety of clothing anyway, so it just depends on my mood as to what I'll wear.  Sometimes jeans and a blouse, sometimes a dressier shirt and slacks... other times, a short skirt and sometimes dresses.  I consider my wardrobe "everyday wear".  I just pick something and go with it.  :drunk:

I wear whatever fits. I am a girl who will go out looking good enough to be going out if you know what i am saying lol. I won't go out in jogging pants and big boots, those are more farm clothes, not going out clothes. So to answer your questions, yes, i do look a little different when i go out to karaoke. I clean up lol. But i mean, doesn't everyone do that even when they are going out to the store? I hope so lol. I mean, i don't wear makeup, just because, i mean, i don't get the whole make-up deal. It probably would make me look better, but who needs it?

As for clothes, Jeans, t-shirt with a profane saying on it, bandana, and yeehaa, lets get-er-done!

I tend to wear clothes when I go out !!!  I don't bother putting on my best 'togs' cos' you just 'stink' like an old ashtray when you get home. But nice jeans/jean skirt and nice top, aim make-up in the general direction of my face..... and off I go CDG's in hand ....  :dancin:

Well ITs two Fold...once or twice a month at some of our shows we run a theme night ( 70's 80's, movies, beach ) which leads to dressing up like you would on halloween but for what ever the theme is. I came form a DJ/MC background so i like to be flashy with vest or wild shirts. if you think about it as a entertainer you need to standout when walking around the bar/club and it helps people reconize you. Also when I see proformers on stage they always have on something "cool", "Fun" or eye catching so guess i shoot for the same thing..... helps bring up the fun level. :dancin:

When we (me + Greg - Diamond Fire) go out to sing socially, it's just jeans and fleeces (or casual shirts in warmer weather).  Make up, rarely.

When it's the Diamond Fire show, you'll find me in black, blue, Khaki or brown jeans and some kind of "nice" top; with some kind of interesting detail (but nothing that shows off too much shoulder, back or cleavage as I'm not keen on being mauled to any greater degree by those folks who mistake public workers for public property).  I don't wear make-up as a routine thing - just occasionally, some lippy.  Always careful to be clean, perfumed and wearing enough bling to please my magpie eyes but not enough to encourange a mugging.

Greg tends to do the black jeans and smart shirt....but can also occasionally be seen in a latex or leather "Matrix" look (weekly gay/cosmopolitan venue likes things a little more "out there" and risque to spice things up every now and then).

Yeah well appearance and appearance. It all depends on what type of place you are going to. But definatly I would put on something that is not every day wear. You are going "out" after all. I mean if you go to a place where there are hicks, barf on the floor, fist fights in the alley, then you would most definatly look out of place if you looked too nice. If you are just there to have a beer and listen to singers, then pretty casual is ok. But IF you are there to SING, every one in the audience is going to be looking at you. All eyes on you. And you know that they will make comments about you while you sing. "Look at that girls tires hanging out", "Look at those 10 year old dirty flannel pants", "look at that guy's greasy hair" "Look at those skid-row sneakers" "When was the last time that guy brushed his teeth?!?!" etc. I have never been to a karaoke place, where people do NOT make comments on people that look out of ordinary. I think just like when you go to a friends party, try to dress up, so it atleast looks like you are making an effort to look nicer than usual.

About 2 weeks ago i went to a karaoke bar and a guy that walked in just reaked up old nasty sweat!, it looked like he had been sleeping in the alley or someone dug him out of a graveyard. Even though I sat 1 table away he kept on smelling nasty all evening. Everyone at our table was grossing out and almost considered to leave. Luckily 4 rum&coke's later some-what numbed my sense of smell, but I actually had to run to the bathroom to get some fresh air every once and a while LOL. The whole bar was smelling sweat and people kept asking, what is that smell?!?! Every time he walked past us, we had to pull up our shirts over our noses. Now this guy actually sang some songs and I just couldn't get this picture out of my mind that this guy might have been running is smelly lips over the microphone by mistake or something or that "stinky" actually held the mic. Now this was both funny and sad a the same time. But I definatly think that people should atleast shower and put some nice new clothes on before they go to a karaoke bar.

A couple of private parties I've hosted I've wore a tux - but that was an ask and they paid for the tux.

Outside of that I like to eat some Costa Rican Insanity Peppers, watch the happy purple bunnies dance around, drool all over myself and show up in my green bathrobe and Spiderman (TM) pajamas wearing bunny slippers.

Then I start up Sweet Home Alabama and scream at the top of my lungs:

Came home in my pajamas!
With no socks and no shoes.
Came home in my pajamas!
Wearing bunny slippers too!

Here I come, in pajamas.

LMAO  LMAO  LMAO  LMAO  LMAO

If you believe the last part I have some ocean front property in Shoreline, Washington I'd love to talk to you about.   :O

What I wear depends on what I'm going out for.  If I'm just going to sing then I generally take a shower and put on clean clothes.  Usually just a pair of jeans and a shirt.  If I'm scoping the show with hopes of gigging there then I dress a little nicer.

If I'm hosting it depends on the venue.  I was hosting outside Denali National Park so I could wear anything.  If I were hosting here in town it would likely be slacks and a dress shirt or something festive depending on the venue.

So, basically, I tend to dress for the venue and my purpose there....

I've always gotten dressed up to do karaoke in most cases. In other cases I hoped to hook up with a fairly drunken chick.

Yet "hooking up" is out've the question when you dress up to do Karaoke because ? LMAO

I dress up for karaoke like I dress up when I go out, which in my case is very close to how I dress for work, shopping, visits etc. lol The Finns do not really dress up for karaoke, at least it's very rare around here!

If there are contests, the "dress code" will apply. Better look good if it's desired to make it to the top! Of course this is also dependent on the size of the competition!
