I'm a professional geek by day and run Linux at home. Is there a way to rip CD+G under Linux? Any tools to convert or play mp3+g? Couldn't find anything useful with Google.

I found one or two projects on sourceforge, but nothing that was 'up to snuff' or anywhere near completed yet when I searched a number of months ago.

Hi,

I've just written an mp3+g karaoke player for Linux. You can find it at:

http://www.kibosh.org/pykaraoke/

If you're interested in a CDG player, please take a look and let me know what you think. I've just made the first release but it's fully functional as an mp3+g player. It supports mp3+g, ogg+g and mpeg playback, and includes a playlist and a searchable database. If you have any suggestions as to new features you would like to see, let me know.

Cheers,
Kelvin

The download mentions windows too.  Is that correct?

The first release (v0.1) was only fully tested on Linux but the intention is to make a full Windows release shortly.

At the moment there is some Windows support, but it's not very stable. You would be better waiting for the next release, which should hopefully have full Windows support. You can subscribe to get an email when the next release of PyKaraoke comes out, from this page:

Thanks,
Kelvin.
