Well I was going to say my two bids worth on this subject but I think Jean said it all for me. Remember there are singers who think they can sing even when they sing off key, in other words they are tone deaf and don't know it !

I would say if someone joins SS they must be a fairly good singer and so far most of the singers I have heard on here they can sing really well.

I sing at one of my local Karaoke pubs and after doing say "My Way" no one claps, not because I am bad, because they think you are showing off, if you sound good, then the next singer comes up a bit drunk with no voice at all and even sings off key, and when he has finished the song everyone claps him ! Now can you tell me why. People are so funny in a pub but in a hall or show you would get a better reception LOL.

Anyway it all boils down to what God gave you when you was born, if you were lucky to be born with a good pair of tubes and learn how to use them, then you are already there, but if you didn't then its the middle of the road for most and for the others, its way down the road !

I just wrote this off the top of my head but I feel most singers on SS are real troopers !

Cheers, Peter

This very thing was discussed in another thread somewhere. Let me see if I can find it. This one: http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic. ... c&start=25

Kind of interesting if you want to read it.

Peter,

I think some people treat karaoke as a drink filled ritual and have fun (sounding bad or not !) and when someone comes along who is not 'tanked up' sounds more than half decent, they don't like it !!!! I think the word jealous comes to mind.

I clap everyone when I'm out, it is only polite (even though some don't really deserve a round of applause, for lots of different reasons, from being tone deaf to being totally arrogant).

You just go out and do the best you can do. You know when you have done an excellent job and that's all that counts.

Lady Di

I must live in some strange place...unlike any other.....we have quite a few decent singers singing karaoke around here and we also have a few really talented people.....finally we have those who couldn't carry a tune in that bucket we so often speak of.....

Oh and yes there are the "contest whores"....as I have devloped an endearment to the discription of the group to which I belong....you'll probably will see this terminology again.....I picked it up on a thread somewhere....

some of us even have those who follow us from place to place....kinda neat....anyway the audiences around here like a good singer and tend to be hard on those who aren't.....our honky tonks come complete with heckelers.....anyway back to the point...if there was one....we don't see much of the clapin' for drunks and not clapin' for the good singers.....

Myself I clap for everyone.....but don't ask me what I think, unless you want a blatened and usually somewhat sarcastic apprasil....just my nature....if your good I'll scream it from the hills....and if your not well don't ask...you already know....

there are probably those who think badly of me now...but I make no appologies....cause this persona has served me well....

when I walk through the door, I'm on stage.....the jokes, sarcasm, and bravoto are all part of the show....it's just what works for me....and it's served me well....I enjoy bein' the center of attention....always have and I'm fairly good at it....I am an entertainer....a legend in my own mind...

well rambled way off the subject....sorry
