OK.

Is buying a plextor drive and using software such as microstudio, etc, the only way to get the songs on your hard drive?

AH!, I found a website, SingingStaition that sells mp3 karaoke songs that you can download. They arent the best in the world but they will do.
No words but I don't use the graphic part anyway.

Now that I have songs on my hard drive, all I need is my vocals(I think)...

I am going to get a decent mike(shureorAT) and a preamp(?) and plug that into my soundcard and see what happens. May have to upgrade my soundcard to one that excepts the rca plugs or something along those lines. I don't really know what I am talking about, I am just typing.
I am hoping to save on buying a mixer for the moment. May sound like crap, we'll see.

Sorry to be so puter illiterate, I know it gets old. I am either missing some serious gray matter or I am making this waaay harder than it really is. I'll keep stumbling along till I find out! :D

Thanks for reading this post!

There are alot of choices out there. There are some very inexpensive programs available. I have tried several mid priced and ended up with Microstudio because it gives me the cleanest burns and the most options.

I recommend using a plextor drive. It eliminates alot of problems. You will get your best burns with this brand.

I understand that MTU is going to release a new version of Microstudio that will be compatible with a wide range of burners. So this will give its users a broader choice of drives to purchase.

One other thing that I like about MTU is they have great online support!

Again there are alot of choices....good luck in your search
