I wouldn't be interested in either going to, or hosting a show in a Topless Venue. If I went to a Topless BAr, it wouldn't be to listen to the Karaoke, and if I hosted at one, I probably wouldn't have any regulars that travel in the Karaoke Circuits I know of, due to either Cover Charges or Over-Priced drinks (which would be common in places like that).

Oh yeah, and the "Can you restart my song. I missed my cue?" 4 times with every singer could become quite tedious. <smirk>

LOL..... actually, in this "city" <---(now there is a stretch!!! :) ) ..... The "Topless" clubs... are all Juice Bars... with NO cover! Not sure how busy they get.... but they've been in business for years.

I hear ya on the "not having regulars".. though! Ditto on that here, too.

Topless bar Karaoke update: Dateline----PDX.
I actually went into this strip bar on Sunday night to check out what they were doing with it as far as Karoake. It was kinda strange actually. First there were no dancers--it was strictly straight Karoake. Their "Big Screen" TV was a white sheet hung form the ceiling with a 3-color projector--it actually worked! The stage is 3ft elevated off the floor surrounded with mirrors and theres 2 dancers poles. The DJ had a smoke machine in operation. The entire place was painted in black and red. The crowd was a trip--all GOTH and Alternative rockers. All the background music was the hardest rock and roughest hip-hop out there. Their karaoke selection was waht youd typically find. But it was really odd watching GOTHED out freaks singing BEATLES songs! But then I guess the Beatles DO have UNIVERSAL APPEAL. But other than the strangeness, the whole thing actually worked pretty well. The people were very cool and accomodating and really enjoyed my blues song I sang. All in all it wasnt as weird or as bad as what I expected! So maybe in that kind of a context of no dancers present it could possibly be a new avenue of expansion with new venues for Karaoke.

Had a friend that was a DJ at a strip club. I helped him out a couple times and there are some nights that you just don't have any clients so the girls don't want to work. Take a slow night like that and something like karaoke could prove to be a nice income stream.

As I understand rules of the forum--we're not allowed to mention addresses/locations of venues or even the venue name in the discussion forums. But email me and ill let you know.

Singing naked might take the crowds mind off the miss cues and sour notes....

but I think I'd do better in a comedy club, if I had to sing in the nude...

the term "rotation" could become confusing.....

I wonder if singing on stage nakid, would end my nightmares of finding myself nakid on stage ? Thing is, I'd be slapped with indecent exposure charges as soon as they heard my voice :(

We got karaoke at a topless bar here in Calgary, a joint called Studio 82. It is right next door to the hockey arena I take my 16 year old son, who always says " it must be pretty cool in there, the parking lot is always full" and it always is. And of course he says to me "Mom, why don't you check it out, they got karaoke there" and is completely 'freaked out' when I ask him if he would be comfortable with me singing my little heart out with me boobie's out. I think I may have traumatised him for life...... bless. I am sure this will come back on me in a couple of years when he can actually frequent this kinda joint.

It would make songs like....... I Touch Myself....... particularly interesting and possibly illegal !!!!!

Karaoke at a strip bar??

I'd be too busy watching the strip activity to even see the karaoke. Of course this would be a straight bar, Gay bars would entice the people therein.

ROTFL!!! Sounds like you have a very healthy relationship with your son!! :) It's cool to be able to say stuff like that instead of just hiding under the seat or something. Poor kid will probably NEVER go into a 'strip club' now though... ;) lol
