I have had so much fun listening to everyone sing that I did not look around until today and found this forum to introduce myself!

My name is Mike, I live in Andrews, Texas. I am 48, single, and raising my daughter alone. Andrews is in West Texas. Buddy Holly was from Lubbock which is just 100 miles north of me, Roy Orbison was raised 40 miles from Andrews, and our president, George Bush (as well as the first lady, Laura) are from Midland, Texas 35 miles from here. As a matter of a fact, I tought school in the high school that they both graduated from in Midland.

I am a school teacher in Andrews at the present and I perform on my weekends. We have a mall in Odessa called Music City Mall, you can find the mall on the internet. The mall hires musicians/singers to perform daily all through the mall. I play there usually every Saturday from 4 pm to 9 pm. I also appear regularly at the Globe Theater's "Brand New Opre" where people perform for large crowds each month. Currently I have just finished recording my 2nd cd titled, One For My Friends. It has 14 songs that have been requsted by people who faithfully come to my show week after week. The cd consists of songs that had been originally recorded by Merle Haggard and Bob Wills. My first cd had some original songs on it. The author of the title cut was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame back in November. This song has been getting quite a bit of airplay on several local radio stations here in West Texas. The crowd at the mall has grown to where people bring their lawn chairs to the mall to have a place to sit and listen.
I am really glad to have found Singers Showcase! I have found people at this site to be very friendly and helpful. I hope to be able to get some of my music online very soon so that you can help me to make my work a lot better through your suggestions and help. Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me. I hope to get to know each of you too.
