Luly, This is why I always call the police if there's an accident that might end up at all costly, or if there's a chance the person doesn't have an actual insurance policy and a witness is needed, etc. Certain types of people will try to pull ALL sorts of "fast ones", including trying to turn the blame around, and sue. Looks as if you'll need a new front quarter panel. Can't tell if the hood of the car was damaged at all. Headlight shattered too :( Car looks relatively new too

Let me tell you the rest of the story. The daddy's thinking my car's gonna cost like $500 to fix. I knew very well it would cost much more. I took it to get an estimate. Let's just say $500 just about covers the headlamp. When I later called him to tell him, he freaked out and said he wasn't gonna pay a penny. Sooooo, that's why I would never take someone's word on this kinda matter. Here's a pic of the damage.

Holy crow, that's pretty damaged. I've never been in a wreck (knock on wood) although I did get sideswiped by a semi truck once going down the highway. Shattered my back window and totalled the driver's side of my car. The trailer was empty, so the back end fish-tailed and bumped the whole side of the car. Wouldn't really consider it a wreck, although the insurance totalled it and paid for another car. How does he figure he's not going to pay for it? I don't understand that.

Hi Steve and Deb!! First thing I did was call the police. She comes outta her pickup with the cellphone glued to her face, so I knew she wasn't paying attention to traffic. I said to her, "What happened? I had the green light." She says, "Oh, I didn't see you." That's cuz you're gabbing on the phone instead of keeping your mind focused on traffic, you idiot!! No, I didn't say that but I surely thought it. The fender has to be replaced, but not the hood. Yeah, it's only 2 years old. I can't drive at night cuz the lights don't work.

Deb, her father tried to convince me to take his word about paying up front so I wouldn't file a police report and so I wouldn't go through his insurance. He thought the damage wasn't so much so he figured he could pay cash for it. I took it to the dealer and the estimate was $3000. I know that's probably inflated, but it sure wasn't $500 damage! What he said about not paying is really gibberish. I'm sure he said it outta the heat of the moment cuz yeah....he's gonna pay and good! Too bad it's probably coming outta his pocket and not his dimwit daughter.

Ooops, sorry. Computer stalled, and I didn't think my first message posted. So this replaced the duplicate post

btw Luly, He likely did know about how much the damage would be. My guess is he hoped a female such as yourself would not know this however. In terms of a body shops labor alone, the costs would excede $500

Girl, you're only in your 30's. You have a LONG time before that should even be a notion.

Cars are costly little things. We get perhaps 6-10 years out've them assuming we buy them new. they have a high initial expense, maintaining them isn't cheap as far as gas, repair, insurance, etc various ongoing expenses. Wouldn't it be nice if every depreciating item we had to buy only cost at best a few hundred bucks, and at least gave as much recreational pleasure as a TV set, or computer :)

Up here, if there was any evidence someone was chatting on a cellphone while driving, and this resulted in an accident, I believe she'd be arrested. That's illegal.

It's amazing how many people try to convert their car cabin into a recreation room on wheels. TV sets, and other items that don't belong in a potentially deadly 4000 lb weapon such as a car

Yeah Steve, that would be nice. My first car was a Camaro. It was only $7000 brand new with all the extras. Times have a changed.

Well, since there were no witnesses, it was my word against hers. She admitted to hitting me, so that was the best I got. You're right about the cellphone. It's supposed to be hands-free only. I see people driving around using cellphones ALL the time, even with a cop car driving right by!! It's simply not enforced in my experience.

BTW, Miami has got the WORST, rudest drivers I've ever seen.

LOL. 7000 for a camero would be nice !. I think I recall when a Volkswagon beatle was under 1000. Not sure. Somehow I think they were around 800 in the very early 60's. (Need to look this up) that and seeing 25 cents on cigarette vending machines.

(Luly, In Florida isn't it compulsory to have auto insurance ?) Here during an accident a person must produce license, registration, and insurance policy info. The insurance policies deal with this stuff. The guy is probably freaking because depending on her age, She's probably a costly dependent on his auto policy, and that will be driven up by this occurrance now

Haha, I remember my mom sending me and my sister to go get her cigarettes at the corner store and they cost 50 cents a pack. Now, selling ciggies to minors is illegal.

Vitiligo my booty.. ;)

I doubt he actually has it, unless he had a few very small spots somewhere. More likely, he just decided he wanted to be 'white'. Pretty freaky in my book.

He's messed up, no matter how you slice it. The need to feel a different race, the surgeries, the kiddy molestation allegations....totally whacked out. It's sad someone with his talent is so screwed up.

Guys, it's been great chatting with both of you! My eyelids are getting droopy though. I had a very long day, beginning with a car accident this morning. This woman on a cellphone plunged into me then her daddy wanted to pay out of his pocket instead of going through insurance.

Luly!! That sucks!! damn... Hope you're feeling ok.

Quick note though... if in a 'small' car accident and offered 'cash' instead of going through insurance, it's usually better to take the cash. Other driver is probably offering it because their insurance is expired or something.

Good luck though!

LOL, I really don't think he has it either. I've seen people with it. Not pretty.

I just remembered reading once they thought LaToya and Michael were one in the same. They were making a joke about them never being in the same room together....
