I understand the software end of computer karaoke, but the hardware end is confusing me. Do you need a CDG-RW drive to rip CDGs into your computer for Holster, or just a regualar drive. I have both an external Iomega CD-RW drive and an internal DVD drive on my laptop at the moment, do I still need to purchase a CDG-RW drive to get my CGDs onto my laptop??

Get a Plextor burner then you won't have to question whether it will work or not.

I agree with Lonman's statement about the Plextor CD-RW, but before you spend (more) money then needed, you can test your existing drive. Just follow this link for a description (and see if your drive is supported)
http://www.mtu.com/support/cdr-ide-drives.htm

And this one for the demo download test program

Just FYI, Plextor is in fact the best CDG compatible drive, you'll have alote more brand that are also CDG compatible but will not work with the MTU software, the method they use is the old way and it will not accept the new methode that most cdg ripper software now use

I personaly have 3 different drives that are capable of reading CDG (direct) or extracting with out any broken letters and Hoster & Microstudio says NOT CDG compatible but Nero Info Tool says they are

I went to Plextor's website and they have a lot of drives. Some really cheap, other more expensive. Is EVERY Plextor drive capable of burning CD+G, or do I have to buy a specific one?

Thanks.
