Hi,

I am new to this site obviously, but I am also new to Karaoke. I did sing one song (house of the rising sun) many moons ago at a local bar, but I am really too much of a chicken to sing in public(so far). I am hoping to cure this problem by buying my own system and getting more comfortable with it.
I LOVE to sing and I have an OK voice. I am a big Elvis fan, but I like to copy many different artists. I would give anything to have a "don't give a rip" attitude. Maybe it will come. :)
Which forum should I go to to learn more about buying an in-home system? My neice just got one of the all in one systems(lower end- $100) and I am looking for something maybe a tad better. Maybe a player I can hook up to my sound system?

Anyway, I am excited about finding this site and hope to learn all I can about KARAOKE!!! :D

Chris

Welcome to KS. I do remember my first time singing in public. I sang the Devil went down to Georgia and I walked away from the song half way thru. And it took a long Island Ice Tea to get me up there. Now I am running a show at our a local bar and have a great time in front of the crowd. It does get easier with time. So enjoy the site, learn lots and most of all have a great time.

OH yeah - I remember wanting so badly to get up there and sing and about croaking every time. I could only do one song a night because I about went insane LOL!

I just had to keep forcing myself to get up more and more and then it gets easier. It also helped once I got a home machine and could throw tunes in and practice whenever I wanted to so I don't go in "cold".

Good Luck! Lookin forward to hearing from ya!

Thanks, I am currently trying to educate myself on home systems. I have been spending a lot of time reading the Technical Forum and it is starting to soak into my thick skull. :)

This is such a great site and I have had a BLAST listening to all the singers' subs. Lots of really talented people here. One day I hope to learn the "sub" thing. One step at a time though. I can't even sing karoake at home yet , much less record it. BUT I'M WORKIN ON IT!!! :D

Thanks again!

Hi, Tidalwave.  Karaoke.com has some very helpful people who work there and can help you find a good system.  I have only had standalone systems so I wouldn't know what to recommend as far as the kind you put together with a sound system. I use the Vocalpro Duet and love it.

What part of Alabama do you live in? I am in Tuscaloosa.

I get nervous when I sing, too, but used to be much worse.   Drink if you can, that will relax you.  That and just getting out there and doing it will help you in the long run.  Also if you do get your own system, just learning the songs really well should give you a good preparation for doing it live.

Good luck!
