Is there any way to convert a .kar file into CDG or DivX?

You can convert the kar to mp3+cdg and then to mpeg and again to DIVX. But why? The kar files are midi and of poor sound quality. Why would you want to take a 45K file and make it 5MB and keep the same crappy sound quality?

If it's a format issue then I could understand but there are other alternatives including midi based players to consider before going through the time and effort to do all the conversions.

It is just a format issue. I don't think my player can play midi/kar files but it can play pretty much everything else. What software would you use to get it into CD+G format? I can handle it from that point.
