This is a 'public' playground Dearie... (well, for members anyway), so you get my opinions whether you want them or not. Just as I subject myself to yours when I come here. If this is just something you want to talk to your buddies about, you have the option of using private messages (as we all do).

OK - stickin nose where it don't belong -
Just when you think the bickering is over then we're back to the playground.
Syber -- I know I told you this before but you really got to chill out and let some stuff just go under the bridge.
*said in a stern voice* Don't make me come over there & give you a time out!

Well, at least we can discuss it without too many people getting ticked off... I said the P word instead the first time and it translated it to "tinkled" EEEWWW I would never use that word.
Stephen, I just have to say one thing about what you said...if a person says "please critique me" or "it's ok to say I suck" then I am going to take them at their word. Of course I won't say "you suck" because that wouldn't be nice OR constructive. But I will be honest. Because if you are the type of person that can't take criticism, then DON'T ASK FOR IT!! It's pretty easy.
I have to just say that I love most of the singing on here and I haven't found one person that askrf for criticism where I didn't mostly like their song. I don't think I've given less than a 6 in the ratings, either. Usually I give a 9 or 10. Then again, I love karaoke and singing, so I may have a high tolerance for crap Just teasing!

*snortin* heheh well, you have a point Cindy... I DO have a tendency to 'last word' people when they're getting snippy. I should probably just shrug it off. Actually, I DO quite a bit.
I tend to speak up *here*, specifically because I know there are a whole bunch of people 'behind the scenes' who get intimidated and pushed around a LOT, and who are afraid to speak their minds because they don't want trouble. I guess I'm kind of a secret 'champion' of sorts for these folks, and I don't want to let them down. I'm sure when other folks criticise me, they are also speaking for people 'behind the scenes', but... we all have different perspectives.
I can't promise anything, but I'll try to 'behave'.
Ok, here's your nose.

I sure have to agree with that. Don't get me wrong, Steven... I totally know where you're coming from, but Phill has changed the system to make it pretty easy for folks to just skip the critiques (unless of course you run into folks who don't understand the system, then we have a problem again).

OMG- I'm surprised this is still going on.
GILLY- - Didn't get the pics- the camera batteries were dead (my daughter has been having a hey day with the darn thing) But I'm going back tonight..... so will pack in the fresh batteries. He is WAY too cute.
I dunno how to put pics here- I never have. So you'll have to tell me how. But I'll be back with some tonight, so I'll stick them up tomorrow.
Sounds like you guys have some extra good ideas. I think it is a reallllyyyy good idea for someone to specify if there is a certain area they want critique on. We just have SO many people who want SO many different things when they sub a song.
I don't recall who said it first- too many posts to keep it all straight. But I too think there are quite a few who are more saying "Critique me....but don't really critique me". Cause I've seen people get mad over decent critiques. Some I think request it just to get the ranking that goes along with it. They really don't want any advice or critique.
Heck, that aint gonna change in a million years.
.........And I'm not taking the bait this time.........
As I said...the feeling is mutual...so why don't you leave it there?

I agree... not everyone will of course, but I do take note when people say things like 'i know my mixing is bad, so please ignore that' or whatever.
However, it's gets a little complicated because, what if someone puts themself up for ranking, says 'please only critique my mixing' and you rank them oh I don't know, like a 6 or 7. Then they come back and say 'Look!! This person ranked me low!! They shouldn't have done that!' Get my point?
How to handle that situation?

Syberchick,
I thought people couldn't tell what ranking we gave them??
I always critique purely on singing. I don't know anything about mixing.
Gilly,
How can you always be online? Don't you sleep, eat, work, etc.?

Well, that's what I thought too, but I've seen them point out what people have ranked them. I guess if you monitor your rank & it suddenly jumps up or down after someone ranks, you can get a pretty good estimate.
Funny thing is though, some folks say things like "everyone else gave me a 10!!" (but even if the ranker wanted to 'follow the herd', you can't SEE the rank on a person's sub until you cast your rank). So it's goofy to complain like that. Wouldn't you agree?

Go to your OWN profile... and click on All COMMENTS MADE. You'll see the ranking you gave someone..... And.... this is " available" for ANYONE to view.
EVERYTHING is viewable to the public!!

I don't think that's quite right - if it is then it don't work for me.
I can click on comments and see the rank that I gave someone with my comments I left them.
BUT - If I click on your profile or Sybers or whomever's and view their comments that they've left - that's all I see is comments - no ranks.
It's more like Syber said, some people are watching closely and boom after someone comments and the rank went down even .1 of a point then they know that they must have given them a lower rank than a 10, etc.
But Syber - when you click on someone's song to listen to it, it shows what rank is already on the sub if 3 or more have ranked it.

Are you sure? I think only your OWN rankings are visible to you... when I go to someone else's profile, I can't see what they ranked on their comments. I mean, don't get me wrong... it's not like I have anything to hide, but so far I haven't been able to see anyone else's rankings.
Maybe cause I'm not 'paid'?
