Hi, everyone! OK, you asked...you'll be sorry
My husband and I were traveling a lot the past few months. In November we went to Little Rock, Arkansas for the opening of the Clinton museum there. I got to shake hands with Hilary, & my husband got to shake hands with Bill (and we got pics). We saw John Glenn and Ted Danson up close, and saw all the other presidents past and present (but not close up), as well as Kerry, Gore, and U2. It was very cool. We also went to Vegas for Thanksgiving and met my husband's relatives there. Then in December, we went to San Diego to visit friends and relatives (we're from there), for about a week and a half. In-between, I did a lot of Christmas shopping, decorating, and sending out cards.
We were home three days from San Diego when we had to leave for New Orleans (conference there for my husband's job; he's a college professor). But, in between, the toilet backed up and flooded our carpets (second time in less than two years, grrrr). So we had to move lots of stuff and get not only a plumber in on New Year's Day, but some guys to extract the water from the rugs and floor. Last time, we had to get new carpets, but this time we got the water out in time, yay! They were still working on it when we left for New Orleans and we just got back today.
We had a good time in New Orleans and saw a bunch of friends of ours there at the conference from various places we've lived (because of his job).
When we travel, I try to do karaoke wherever we go. The karaoke in my town is not very good.
I left my laptop behind accidentally in San Diego, so my sister-in-law had to mail it to me, so I am way behind on email and stuff.
As I posted in another place, I found out in October that I have diabetes type II, so I have been having to juggle all this traveling with trying to eat right and exercise, and stay from all the fattening and sugary holiday foods and alcohol. I lost 6 lbs. in November and managed not to lose OR gain anything during the holidays (happy about that!).
Now we are back ,so I have to go back to the serious diet and also put all our furniture and stuff back where the flood was....it will probably take ma a few weeks to get everything back in order, as well as put away the Xmas decorations and unpack from our trip.
Also, I have some things planned for the new year, like learning how to drive again (long story), joining a gym, and getting a job. I plan to sign up with some temp agencies so I can get some work, to make some extra money (got to pay for those karoake disks,
!!).
I have a huge website that I spend lots of time on, especially the TV part of it (which is kind of separate anyway). I have 85-100 volunteers who help me with it. It is sort of an unpaid full-time job. The site made some money this year ,so not only was I able to pay for the hosting costs, but I gave cash to my volunteers for Christmas, which was really neat. Not huge sums or anything, but still it was cool to be able to do that. Also, I have been getting lots of free DVD's and CD's from various companies, just in return for writing reviews and putting links on my site, so that has been great. I have a lot of extra stuff to give away, so now I have a monthly contest on my site to give away the extra stuff. That is cool, playing Santa year 'round
Along with all this, I have a serious addiction to both TV and karaoke. I got lots of DVD's for Christmas, plus the ones I have to review as mentioned above, plus I belong to Netflix....then I also tape tons of crap, so I am always behind on all that.
Then, of course, there is always lots of email, a lot of it related to my website(s), plus message boards, forums, etc. It's hard to find time to fit in Singers' Showcase, honestly, but I am trying. Can someone please invent the 50-hour day? Aw, who am I kidding, I'd probably pick up a new hobby or sleep another 5 hours a day!!
Happy new year to all! I'm looking forward to reading what everyone else is up to...
