yesterday we had some SERIOUS blowing snow... I could barely see across the street when it got real bad.
also.... one of the highways around here was closed because of a SIXTY car pile-up!! YES 60 and this is ALBERTA Canada.... these ppl have YEARS of experience in winter driving...
yikes!

this morning we awoke to 6 in of snow on top of 1/2 in of ice they were not even calling for any snow go figure

Saturday: Freezing rain early...changing to a wintry mix by afternoon. Temps nearly steady in the low 30s. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Snow and ice accumulations less than one inch.
(favorite conditions for the autobody shops)

Crystal, having lived and policed in Alberta for four years, with the exception of British Columbia, I found Alberta drivers, especially Calgarians, some of the worst winter drivers around. Always waiting for that chinook.

you'd THINK they'd know what they're doin, huh? 
How come they put the worse drivers in the WORST city to drive in?  ! Calgary is next to imPOSSIBLE to get around with all those one-ways! GRR! _________________

well...over in in manchester uk...at the moment...we have a cloud covering at about 1500 ceiling...overcast 900 feet...Rain showers, winds gusting between 15-25mph...air Preassure is at around 29.91 milibars...oh almost forgot to mention...silly me...wind direction is about 050 degrees....apart from that...its not to bad i guess

The forecast for this week is a lovely one! NOT!
We are forecasted to receive the benefits of a Siberian front moving in later tomorrow night lasting through the weekend.
HIGHS are forecasted to be
(yes this is the HIGH temp people --- SIT DOWN cuz it's ugly!):
-15 (MINUS 15, yes you read right!).
Lows will be -25
Windchills will be -60
(minus 60 - means wind will make it feel THAT COLD -60!)
So.... when you are watching your weather channel and they talk about the Midwest region of the U.S. where there's some but-ugly cold weather -- just think of me and know that I'm somewhere frozen to my chair in front of a computer!

Looks like we are getting a break from the rain here in Cali today... sun is peekin' out. We've had the wettest consecutive days in Cali history.. since the 1800's when they started recording it. Flash floods and mudslides everywhere. Rescue workers are still looking for several people buried in a slide in a Ventura County community.
Here comes the sun!

As for Floriday, and any other states on the gulf, you can have it! I've lived there, been thru too many tropical storms, let alone the hurricanes.
No thank YOU! I'll just stick it out where I'm at.
Course I grew up with Tornadoes in missouri, so I guess I shouldn't say anything, huh? !

its -45 here today and its snowing a bit. It normal to be cold here so its okay, thats Canada for you people! . Cold and loving it!. let the skidoos come out and the fun begin!

It's sleeting as I type.... supposed to leave about 1/2 " of ice....Yikes, feel sorry for the tree branches... and the linemen who will have to be working in all this.
All schools are closed....most places are sending employees home...and I'm INSIDE ....and happy to be here!
Think I might crank the heat a bit tho.... and get some more coffee... Yes, Yes.
