Hi there,
I'm looking to buy a portable lighting system that is lightweight & easy to run... any suggestions?
Thanks! :)
Heather

Is this going to be used for stage lighting or dance floor? You don't want dance floor lights flashing in a singers face, & you don't want just colored stage lights on a dance floor.

The lights will be aimed at a dance floor., not at singers. Thanks!

The local yokel Karaoke and lighting shop for me in Everett, Washington is the second largest in the United States. I know they do a TON of lighting work in the Western US, it is there bread and butter.

They have octopus and hedgehogs on sale for $89!!!! These are $219 lights, meet your requirement of easy to use, lightweight, and better for a dance floor versus a singer. They also have tripods with the T-bar on sale for $39 each - go their flyer just yesterday.

If you get the octopus or the hedgehog I believe they both have two bulbs in them, duty cycle of about 20 to 25 hours, replacement bulbs around $8 to $10 each. My understanding is they have a maximum continious use of 10 minutes - otherwise duty cycle on the bulbs is shortened. A good light controller to just switch between two lighting fixtures is under $100.

So, two hedgehogs, two octopuses, two tripod stands with t-bar, and one light controller for under $600 including tax - drive out seems like an awfully good deal to me.

Don't know if we can mention names here or not or provide links - but I'd figure I'd toss this out there.
