Now, some may wonder why. The answer is that i have Chartbuster, SoundChoice and Sunfly in my collection. And they are NOT the same backings, though they are the same songs! And my customers REALLY appreciate this... Believe it or not, but a lot of my customers wants to try different versions of the same song to find THEIR favourite! That is perfectly acceptable to LIST the duplicates. This thread really isn't about listing duplicates or not, HOWEVER, I understand reasonings behind it. I personally choose not to & MY customers appreciate this - they know as I have stated in the books if they don't like a version, there's a good chance I have other versions & to just ask. What ISN'T acceptable is for a company to advertise "WE HAVE 15,000 SONGS" when they are counting the duplicate listings. That's false advertising & a flat out lie - more & more singers are becoming aware of this & know if you are stating that many songs, chances are - a good majority are duplicated (or triplecated or more). If you state something like we have 8,000 "non duplicated" song titles, that is actually a more impressive figure.
Just for the record....I don`t advertise the duplicates, they`re only listed Had to clearify that...

One thing I do know is that if you list the duplicates you should list the manufacturer. I've seen far too many books where the they use a custom numbering scheme and leave out the manufacturer information which only frustrates the patron. One club that does this I've started asking the kj who the manufacturer of the disc is before I put in the slip.
Would save singers a lot of time if manufacturer is included in the list if it's not already.

I use to do that -- I have found that people will come up from time to time and go, "which one should I sing," and I'll look through. On more popular songs I may ask if I know off the top of my head if I have a better version. For example I have at least three versions of Sweet Home Alabama, and I find that my Karaoke Bay version is the best. I have two or three versions of Paradise by the Dashboard Light and Supercore is the one, the only, the master grand daddy version.
Comes with experience, and these little tweaks that can turn a good host into a GREAT host. I hope I never reach the point where I'm just "spinning discs."

The Supercore version of that is actually All Hits. I do list 2 versions of this one as the All Hits (Supercore) version has the announcer part which the singer sings, the Sound Choice has that part as well, but it is recorded so the singer doesn't sing it. They are denoted in the book which is which as well. The only other duplicate I list off the top of my head is At This Moment. The Pioneer version is has the long ending, the DK version has a short ending so whichever version you cut your teeth on, you can pick.
