Sorry if this has already been addressed. I couldn't find it if it was.
I'm getting to the point in my CDG collection where getting songs a la carte seems to be a viable option, because otherwise I pay for songs I either don't want or already have. I looked into ordering custom CDGs, but they're very expensive ($5 per song), and for some reason the selection of songs is rather limited.
I therefore wondered if it would be cheaper and easier to download CD+G files and then burn them to CD. I found a couple of sites that supposedly offer downloadable CD+G files, but the process was needlessly complicated and in many cases they require you to buy some sort of membership before you can order anything, rather than offering songs a la carte at a given price. Also, there was no way to check the quality of what I'd be getting.
If anybody could recommend anything, I'd really appreciate it. PM me if necessary. Thanks.

Top Hits Monthly I believe you can download on a pay per track basis. Otherwise I personally don't know of any other legal sites to do it from. Custom discs may SEEM expensive, but if you think about it, it really isn't. Say you want 5 songs that happen to be only available on 4 different discs costing $20 each. You really want THOSE 5 particular songs, but none of the others are appealing & would be just wasted space for you. So those 4 discs just cost you $80 for 5 songs. NOW, if you had a custom disc made, you only spent $30 for those same 5 songs. For that matter you could have had a 15 song disc of the songs that YOU wanted for the same price as those 4 discs with only 5 of the songs you wanted plus alot of filler that you'd never use.
When you think about it that way, it really isn't THAT expensive.

exactly! There are precious few spotlights, or compilation discs that give you everything you want... mostly it's a few hits here and there.
My rule of thumb on spotlight or cdg purchases: If I have over two songs on a disc and don't have tons of repeats, then it's worth buying.
Otherwise, i go the custom route and get the tracks that way. I've stopped buying a lot of the spotlights because of the sheer amount of repeats.
I have eleven customs!!! And will continue to get them that way if SC continues with their current releases the way they are!

Thanks for the tip on Top Hits Monthly. I'll check that out.
Good point on the pricing issues, but for me paying $20 for a disc is really expensive even if it has a couple of songs I really like. That's why I mostly have lesser brands like Sweet Georgia Brown. I don't have any Sound Choice at all, completely because of the price. In terms of quality they're great.
Custom CDGs are looking like a more attractive option just because most songs I want, I already have. So I probably would be willing to pay $50 or so for ten songs I want at this point. But as I said in my initial post, the selection options on the custom CDG sites are disappointing. I don't understand why, if Sound Choice has, say, the Cure's "Just Like Heaven" on one of their regular CDGs, it isn't available on a custom basis as well. It's very frustrating.
Just as an exercise, I put together a ten-song custom CDG. Several of the selections were ones I really wanted, but about half of them were just songs that I didn't already have and that I more or less remembered. It would be nice if I could get all ten (there was a minimum ten songs required at the place I did this) to be ones I really wanted. If I'm going to pay that much, I figure I should at least get the songs I want.
I don't mean to turn this into a debate about the merits of custom CDGs. I really just wanted to find out the other options.
