sorry i am not meaning to be a stick in the mud, but ive just come from someones sub, it was some good work and original...but some of the content is not for the younger listeners, i do think perhaps there should be a cat that people can select which says adult...and a warning appear alongside the song name automatically.
i am NOT saying i am against this sort of thing because i am not, i swear like a trooper sometimes but i do think out of courtesy for younger members and those parents that allow their children to browse this site to at least be aware
this i do think should also be the responsibility of the site owners

in this ONE instance, I'll agree that if a song has adult lyrics, in other worsd, stuff you wouldn't hear on daytime television, then yes, it should have a warning made by the subber, and maybe even a little icon that says "PA". (or explicit lyrics)

good god someone get me some oxygen ive just nearly passed out hehee....thankyou crystal and matt i am glad that you agree with what ive put forward.
whilst yes i do think that members should take partial responsibility for their subs....it does clearly state when you sub a song...song title only...so if that's the case....sites responsibility to make sure those who want to sub works with adult content should have a cat for it and a warning automatically.

really hope this doesn't put an end to the "bad" songs..... cuz they're still really enjoyable....
but yep... a little icon would be excellent
those song'll get the most listens, probably!! !!

At least there should be a warning in the description of the song....
I'm no prude, I sometimes do 'Me So Horny', 'The Rodeo Song', 'Strokin' and a few others that can bring a blush (of embarassment or anger depends on the crowd).

Oh, I'm no prude either m'man!
I sing some kid rock songs, and I love Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime"... no way is that cd for kids!
BUT, just because that's me, doesn't mean some six yr old should see or hear it! Now if they're cruisin' this site unsupervised, there's nothing we can see or do about that, but if we have an advisory in the song, on the description page, the mom or dad will know to skip that until Jr. is asleep! !

Yup....... I agree with all of ya!! I think it needs to be in the description of the song.... minimally.
Even at shows singers will ask, "can I swear?" We tell them that if it's in the lyrics they can say it.... but...no ad-libs allowed! Hehe!
However, we used to do a Sunday afternoon "family" show.... and during that... we announced that songs with "adult lyrics or sexual/controversial content be avoided.....and everyone was always really cool with that... (except the 13-15 yr. olds who LOVE to sing those songs... ).
But I am now thinking that we don't have any indication in our song catalog about adult lyrics, etc.... wonder if that might be a good thing to add? Hmmmmm..... any of you do that with your catalogs... or see it at shows you go to?
Good point, Missy!

Basically, what has been agreed upon by the KS staff is that NO Questionable or adult themed submissions are to be allowed.
Currently, I have edited the post to state in the Description {Adult Theme} However, this will most likely be removed.
We do not allow conversations (Posts/Topics) to have any adult only conversation. I know that the moderators and I have been lax lately in not editing or deleting these type of items. Please note that these will be squelched in the future.
We have a wide variety of ages that visit this site. I know my twelve year old daughter sometimes visits and I certainly don't want her exposed to that type of stuff on this site. (All my kids are exposed to more than enough elsewhere!)
Thanks
Phill
