Ok... you guys are both friends of mine, so I'm going to be completely honest with you. First of all, I've never heard this song before, so I'm basing this purely on a cold listen.

You were both pretty flat on the solo parts. When you started on the 'harmony' part, Crystal - you were singing an octave instead of harmony, then you DID switch to harmony. Now I don't know if that's the way it is in the original or not, but I thought I would let you know. The octave didn't sound bad, but when you hit the true harmony, you both sounded really good. The harmony section was the best part of the sub.

I'm not going to say much about tone or anything else, because you guys are both good in those areas. Your only problem with this sub was pitch.

Good job on nailing that harmony toward the end though! I know this was your first attempt Crystal, so way to go! Harmonizing can be really hard to do and if you don't have the right kind of voice for it, it just won't work!

Hope I didn't hurt any feelings here... :oops:

none on my part. I know I was a bit off initially... the song is sang at a low pitch that is a bit rough for me to do WITH volume. And I'm trying to bring out more vocals... something you guys have told me on more than one occassion.

and you know, I think it turned out pretty good, considering that we're in two separate locations! LOL

But yes!! Your power WAS better throughout most of the song, so GOOD JOB with that!

IF you use CEP.the answer to the low volume slash power issue..is to sing the song..then on the lowwwww part..go back..and do the punch in feature..resing that part at a nice comfortable and on pitch level..then..before you merge/rejoin it...raise the volume level on just that part...

my lows..are low..my highs carry much farther..fact of life...no shame in punch in...despite what some may think...if i want to sub a LIVE version lol

thats one thing..when i RECORD a song..i want it as nice as I can possibly get it..considering equipment and limited knowledge...

just a hint on how to fix that..havent had time to listen to the song yet...im sure yall did a nice job though

Also.. in CEP the "dynamics processing" should even out the highs and lows... I do the "fast attack"... if it's not loud enough you can even highlight just that particular area and raise the volume if ya want.

I once went to my friends church's choir practice to watch... and there was also a little-bitty kids choir and this little girl...... musta been about 6 started harmonizing to EVERYTHING!! not an ounce of effort... is just flowed outta her! :shock:

they gave her her own mic

as for the flat parts.... yep.... I knew sumpthin was a little catty-whompus but i didn't know what the problem was..now I do

but YES the idea of doing a duet with someone I've never met is FRICKEN COOL!

CEP IS THE COOLEST! YES IT TAKES FOREVER..AND I DOUBT THERE IS ANY ONE PERSON WHO HAS TOTALLY MASTERED THE ENTIRE PROGRAM OTHER THAN WHOEVER DEVELOPED IT LOL

..EACH FEATURE IS REPEATED IN A MILLION OTHER PLACES A MILLION OTHER WAYS..ONLY WAY TO WORK IT IS TO JUMP IN..AND FIND WHAT WORKS FOR U..LIKE SHERE USES THE FAST ATTACK..WHICH DOES HORRIB LE ON MY VOICE

BUTTTTTTT I CAN USE ONE OF THE OTHERS..THEN CHANGE THE PROPERTIES..AT WHERE IT SOUNDS GOOD.AND THEN SAVE THAT LIKE UNDER THE SONG IM DOIN NAME..ETC..I SWEAR EVERYTIME I RECORD I LEARN SOMETHIN NEW..TAMMY AND JAZZY AND BILLY HAVE TAUGHT ME ALL THE BASICS..AND I STILL NEED MORE TEACHIN ! LOL

Now, I thought you did REAL GOOD on your harmonizing!! You'll still have to do one with me.. heheh... I didn't mean to sound like your harmonies were off, cause they weren't!! That was the best part of the sub! I just figured you guys didn't know the song too well on the other parts anyways. I was proud of ya both for submitting it.

I know... some people are just like that. :roll:

As for me, sometimes I can kick right in with the harmony, other times I have to go back over and over to figure it out (especially when I have to figure out the harmony myself).
