What? Sounds like you may have hired a soothsaying, ouija board riding, tarot card reader as a market analyst.

What exactly precipitated these new changes?

Exactly what I said. Was I unclear?

That will be a little more involved to figure out. I will have to manually extract that data from the total overall.

Since putting the Gem set into production (approx 2 months) i have 427 Songs SCGem used so far in history (approx 20%), 823 Mr Entertainer (approx 30%) but many same song repeats. Example Uptown funk, and Adele songs (Newer) the rest is mostly DK karaoke (Approx 40%)

People do appreciate the quality of the SC tracks.

On the downside, Picture - Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock track is not included in the gem set and is Quite the popular version. Maybe SC will add it to a Gem update.

Both Black velvet and I Love Rock & Roll, many find DK version best over the rest.

I'm sorry to see the Gems go up. If I had the cash laying about I would have bought it already

Still a good deal on a cost/track basis. The only thing I don't like is you never really own them free and clear.

No question the overall quality of the brand is still superior to most of the competition on the bulk of the library.

Not really that good of a deal, considering probably 90% of the songs will never get used. That really jacks up the price of each song. Unless you're just starting out in karaoke, OR maybe you want to do a 2nd system, you're still better off with discs and downloads.

Crystal on the GEM part.

It's the 'Market Based' methodology for HELP pricing thing that is intriguing.

We have found that there is a wide variation between the economic conditions prevalent in various markets around the country. This is our attempt to take into account those differences in order to optimize our ability to earn revenue from licenses. It also bears pointing out that this structure gives us the ability to put a premium on getting licensed without being prompted by the threat of a lawsuit. Operators in places we haven't targeted will find that the price of getting licensed is lower than in places where we have a sustained litigation presence.

There wasn't any event that prompted this change, just a recognition that we were probably leaving significant money on the table by charging a one-size-fits-all price everywhere in the world. Even at the highest price we offer, it's still a pretty good bargain.

Ok in 2015 only
in 2015 there were 4,419 individual song titles done at least once at my show of which 1,115 were individual SC tracks.
18,930 total (all songs counted) of which 9,110 were of SC brand.

Now you have to figure this only represents my show, another show with more or less SC tracks will obviously have different results.

Interesting.....

So it looks like (in your show) that SC is not the "brand of choice" when it comes to selection because it only represented 25.23% of the total brands-by-song even though 48.12% (almost half) of the library is made up of that brand....

Brands that are not 6 years out of date.

Even my core regulars are in their 20's-30's and they do songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's quite regularly which SC covers as do other brands. If that is the case, you probably don't use Pioneer or DK either?

Of course I use them both. But my point is that SC is not as popular as some would have us believe and your computer records substantiate that. The numbers never lie..

Thanks for checking that out. I really do appreciate it.

His shows are strictly 2010s dubstep/electronica masterpieces featuring ONLY the latest tracks from James Blake, Killbot, and Knife Party.

If you want to know what the "brand of choice" is, the question you ask is this:

When a specific song is available from multiple producers, which producer's version is chosen more often?

Most songs that are sung are available from multiple producers, so it is possible to determine the answer to that question, but not from the numbers Lonnie supplied. Lonnie's numbers, based on the actual number of songs sung, show that around 50% of all the tracks played at his shows are SC. That number is admittedly going down a bit year by year, but it's still so high that it's the #1 brand.

If a track is played multiple times but only counts as one in the tally, that gives equal weight to a SC song that appears almost every night and one obscure track that only KV ever made and that was only played once in a year. That vastly overstates the popularity of the sung-once track and of the KV brand by biasing the selection toward producers who have been active between 2010 and the present.

If you look at our brand head-to-head with other brands, on the tracks we put out, we consistently win that battle. I know that's tough for you to hear, but it's the truth.

You're asking a completely different question that would suit your agenda.

now you're simply inventing an answer to match your own question.

it does not matter if songs that are sung "are available from multiple producers." there are plenty of KJ's – just like Lonnie – who have multiple producers available but don't make some of the other brands even available in their songbook. Ask any of the KJ's that remove the duplicates.

If Lonnie has removed all of the duplicates (which she has in the past claim he has done) and kept only the "versions of songs that he believes are the best," then he may have eliminated a number of other brands and kept your brand in the mix as the only one available. Even in this instance your brand does not show that it is any farther ahead than any other brand. The deck is simply stacked in your favor by the KJ – not by the patrons singing.

Your inability to become active between 2010 and the present is no one else's fault. if the KJ has the song "Picture" by Kid Rock in several brands, but only lists your brand in their songbook that it is the KJ that is "vastly overstating the popularity" of this particular track.

It's not a choice by patrons if the KJ limits the duplicates.

I'm taking a vaguely defined term and giving it an objective definition.

If he kept our brand and dumped the rest, what does that say about whether our brand is the "brand of choice"? In that case, he's making the choice, but the point stands.

Of course, but it's still a choice. Who's defining the question to suit an agenda?

The simplest interpretation of Lonnie's numbers is this: About half the time, the brand he plays is SC. That is entirely consistent with what we've said all along: On average, about half the karaoke tracks played at any karaoke show in America are Sound Choice-branded tracks, and more than 95% of all shows routinely play SC tracks. That is so without a single new song since March 2010.

It was a rhetorical question knowing you would never, ever divulge anything about yourself. Not to mention take a pot shot at Sound Choice.

I don't know what the Troll score is, but you are sitting squarely on 0 still. :)

I pulled data from a full Gem set owner in a seven day a week venue.
This is one year of data from October 2015 to October 2016.
There were 4538 unique tracks performed during that time.
Of those, the number one most sung song was:
Girl Crush - Little Big Town sung 143 times from a Sunfly track
Number 2:
Killing Me Softly – The Fugees sung 103 times from a Sound Choice track

Of the top 40 songs this year, of which each was sung 52 times or more 28 were Sound Choice Gem tracks.

Of the 4538 tracks performed during the past year, 2420 were from the Sound Choice Gem series.

Of the 2868 songs that were sung more than once, 1600 were tracks from the Sound Choice Gem series.

Of the 6000 tracks on the Gem series, 3580 went unused.

I would like to point out that this venue is heavily reliant on their Gem set, as they are fans of the Sound Choice sound. Unless a different brand is specifically requested (which is very rare) their KJs have always been told that in the case of duplicates, the default choice is to use a Sound Choice track. The Sound Choice Gem set represents about half of their library, which is also reflected in the numbers.
Due to the lack of production however, they have since become big fans of other brands as well.

Of the 2118 tracks from other producers, 1269 were sung more than once, and the majority of those were purchased by request to fulfill a singer’s desire to sing that particular song.

Here’s the top 40 plus the number of times each was performed:

1. 143 Girl Crush - Little Big Town
2. 103 Killing Me Softly - Fugees, The - SC 10021 18
3. 98 Don't Stop Believin' - Journey - SC 10039 11
4. 95 Thinking Out Loud - Sheeran, Ed
5. 94 Before He Cheats - Underwood, Carrie - SC 10190 2
6. 93 Follow Me - Uncle Kracker - SC 10084 11
7. 78 Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident) - Montgomery, John Michael - SC 10068 19
8. 76 Ol' Red - Shelton, Blake - SC 10188 15
9. 75 In Color - Johnson, Jamey
10. 72 What's Up - 4 Non Blondes - SC 10217 30
11. 71 Your Man - Turner, Josh
12. 71 Old Time Rock & Roll - Seger, Bob & The Silver Bullet Band - SC 10038 20
13. 71 Crazy - Cline, Patsy - SC 10070 3
14. 70 At Last - James, Etta - SC 10059 3
15. 70 Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - Tunstall, Kt - SC 10090 5
16. 69 Santeria - Sublime - SC 10051 21
17. 64 Burning House - Cam
18. 64 House That Built Me, The - Lambert, Miranda
19. 62 Can't Help Falling In Love - Presley, Elvis - SC 10010 4
20. 62 Folsom Prison Blues - Cash, Johnny - SC 10070 4
21. 62 Zombie - Cranberries, The - SC 10080 30
22. 61 She's Got You - Cline, Patsy - SC 10071 25
23. 60 You Were Meant For Me - Jewel - SC 10017 30
24. 60 Bring Me To Life - Evanescence - SC 10052 4
25. 59 Turn The Page - Seger, Bob
26. 59 Faithfully - Journey - SC 10040 9
