(Venting). Attendance at my show down a good 40% since the start of this game craze. Our venue is situated in a corner with 15 car capacity. Across the street is public parking that can accommodate 70 to 80 cars. Every Friday & Saturday night close to 100 people are in the parking lot holding their phones or in their cars or just lingering around trying to collect that elusive pokemon.

City park building a block away was designated as the pokemon gym. I’m also hearing about pokestops. Huh? Poke what? I don’t even know what that means. I know this much: They collect a menagerie of cartoonish like creatures and to my understanding, they eventually use them to fight with others at a gym. I would expect kids like tweens playing this game but mind you they’re mostly adults age range from 20-30. Arrghh. Get a life, people!

I ask my regulars why they’re not coming anymore. It’s because they can’t find a parking spot. Option would be park from way way afar but they don't want to walk back to their cars late at night. I hope this game is just a passing fad. Waiting for the day when this game gets to be boring - hopefully sooner rather than later. (Venting over!).

The craze hasn't really affected us as far as I can tell. The club is actually a gym and there is a Pokestop directly across the street, i've seen some playing inside here and there, but nothing seriously.

Brian, I will assure you that I will find a parking space during my California trip in September/October. With the new developments, the exact date is unknown. I have your info and will try to make it.

Pokemon had a slight but noticeable impact on some of our shows where we service a younger crowd that plays the game. We are already seeing them come back in though. I made the decision early on to take an anti-Pokemon stance as far as my marketing was concerned and that actually brought new people in to offset the singers we lost to the game.

Fortunately, there are no rare or desirable Pokemon to catch near any of our venues so parking has not been impacted.

You would think the crowd that is into drinking and singing wouldn't include the same people that stare like zombies into their phones looking for things that don't exist, but hey, thankfully it's just a fad. Before you know it, it will fade like Disco, and hopefully the same way, with a crowd at a stadium burning effigies of pokemon creatures :)

Such a nice 2016 mercedez rv to park in an area where you can’t see it. I’m guessing you have a placard for disabled parking (can I still use that word? Not sure) from the accident. There’s only one next to the restaurant but double park is allowed (lengthwise). I’ll make sure it’s available for you. Pm me the date.

I believe disco’s rise to mainstream was 1977 & garnered much popularity at the introduction of movies such as Saturday Night Fever & TGIF; declined late 1979 with strong anti-disco sentiment (“disco sucks”) from rock groups & fans.

I hope this pokeman craze doesn’t last that long. I don’t want to lose my gig.

pokemon is going to be around a long time!
when it starts to lose money, then they will introduce the next generation of
characters and it will start all over again!

and their are several generations to go through before it will end.

best bet is post Non patron of the venue will be towed!

you can also go on Niantic's website and request that poke stops & poke gyms be removed from your near area as it's effecting the business establishment's income.

The idea of pokemon will probably stick around for years, especially for kids, but I'm sure this Pokémon Go craze will lose the interest of most adults before Christmas even gets here. Maybe sooner. Most adults don't have the attention span to continue doing this kind of stuff for too long before they wake up and come back to reality. It's the exact same reason you'll never hear the words "President Trump" :)

So I guess you prefer "Lying crooked Hillary" And her right hand woman Huma Abedin, who is wife to Anthony "The Weiner". Boy that is quite a team

Given the two choices, yes I do. Donald is far more crooked and a far bigger liar, but he's at least smart enough to know that there's enough gun toting redneck idiots out there that will simply believe everything he says. Hillary could easily make the same statements about him, but she just won't stoop to elementary school tactics. She's trying to attract intelligent people, and she's just betting that there are more of them out there, and according to the polls, she's right.

Who cares about Anthony Weiner's dick picks? I don't. Where does this belief come from that anyone who has a sexual affair or does anything sexual is incompetent at their job? The two are completely unrelated and I'm smart enough to know that. Bill Clinton cheated on his wife and got a BJ in the White House. ...and he lied about it! So what? Did it in any way stop him from presiding over the best economy in our lifetime? No. If people are judged on everyone that is associated with them, holy crap, the list of Donald's questionable friends is a mile long. None of that matters and I'm smart enough to know that. The only things that matter is if the next president is

1. Smart enough to do the job
2. Knows how the government actually works
3. Knows what can actually be accomplished

Anyone smart enough to tie their shoes can figure out that Donald is none of those things. Look, Hillary is going to win and you better start swallowing that now. The only thing that Donald and his followers have done for this country is to help us see who the true idiots really are in this country. That's it, but it's not like we didn't already know this anyway.

Look, I get why you're angry, and between now and November, this is your chance to get that anger out, so go ahead and keep venting, but I hate to break it to you, it's not going to change the outcome. If you really think Donald is going to win, how about putting your money where your mouth is and make it interesting? Say $100?

My apologies. Its funny how that happens all over this board. A one liner can turn into a completely different discussion. Brian took my single remark for what it was and treated it as such, but then of course someone else took it a step further, and suckered me in.

have you even played pokemon go?

for an adult it's the easiest game there is.
my wife hates video games but she's hooked on pokemon go, keeps saying she's gonna quit but i look over and she's "evolving and training" pokemon and always wants to go out at hit pokestops and fight on the gyms. she even gets upset when i tell her no but you can go if you want to.

it's an easy game for adults to comprehend and it's not gonna just go away anytime soon! a couple of finger swipes here and there, and upgrading characters. It's so simple my 9yr old doesn't like it because there is no challenge to it.

like i suggested earlier go onto niantics website and do the request to remove a pokestop or pokegym.

Not gonna touch this discussion with a ten-foot pole. Discussions always gets nasty when politics are involved. That's why I just added an emoji to karaokelan's post without posting a comment.

But I'll say this: vote according to your conscience. Pick ‘the lesser of two evils’. I’ll leave it at that. :)

Luckily, we only have to hear this kind of venting every 4 years, and we've only got a couple more months to go before all the talk will die down. Back to the original subject, I think the same will be true of Pokémon Go. If anyone is worried about losing a gig due to a game fad, I think all you need to do is take a preemptive step and explain to the venue owner that this will be a problem regardless of what their entertainment of the night is, and like all fads, it won't last long. It's not like it's only a problem with Karaoke singers. Hopefully they will understand that.

and that's why I say it's only a fad and people will quickly get bored of it. Games that last the test of time with adults, like say Chess or Texas Holdem', are always games that have multiple layers of complexity that could literally take a lifetime to master, and that's where the challenge is for adults, and most adults need that to stay interested. Simpler games like checkers or tic tac toe, people grow out of once they're adults because it doesn't take long to master them, and that's when they get boring. Pokémon go could keep inventing new creatures to catch, but it still doesn't change the fact that pointing your phone to find things that don't exist won't quickly get boring. The thing that made the game interesting is that it was the first game to utilize your phone's camera and motion sensor to give you the illusion that there were fake things present in the real world. Things that make people go "wow" don't last that long. It's like watching a magician perform the same magic trick over and over.

Karaoke on the other hand will never get boring. Drinking and singing makes people feel something that's addictive as a drug. I've always said, as long as there's alcohol, there will always be a place for Karaoke. Wanting to sing while drunk has probably been around as long as alcohol itself. We will all lose a gig here and there, but there will ALWAYS be another one.
