What do you folks know about the Malata MIDI Karaoke DVD / VCD player. This almost sounds too good to be true. 20,000 songs and player for $400? Can people use these things for running their own karaoke show? Is there a certain manufacturer that produces the music? Is the music any good? etc... thanks

It plays MIDI files :? It is computer generated music that sounds horrible at it's best. Spend the $400 and be the unhappiest person singing karaoke, unless you are completely tone-death.

Bee, this sounds like one of the K machines like I saw at a friend's house. We plugged song numbers in the remote and saw some kind of videos on screen and it gave everyone a rating, BUT like Allstar said, horrible music. Obviously the organ-y, generic type. There is no way customers would go for that type of system. It'd be fun at home only I think.

The lyrics were frequently misspelled too.

Not to be pedantic, but this is defintely one of my pet peeves. It's tone DEAF, not tone death. Deaf means unable to hear, death means to stop living.
