This is exactly the kind of release that might have 1-2 songs sang once or twice, but then will NEVER be heard from again. Hard to justify the $23 buy.

Well, this again falls into my own logic of “I’d rather have the song in my library and not need it (for the time being), rather than not to have that song when somebody request for it.” ‘would be nice if we could still able to do downloads on the fly from these overseas manus - I’d probably not even consider buying the whole cd.

‘been doing it from way back. Sc will release a 15 song spotlight, then release a two 8 song power picks. There’s always that one extra song in power picks that I will end up buying the whole 8 songs even tho' 7 of those titles were already in the spotlight. Then, sc will release that one song to spotlight 2-3 months later.

It’s justified from a business point of view, folks!

AND THAT IS WHY SOME PEOPLE NEVER FELT EVEN A LITTLE BIT GUILTY ABOUT DOWNLOADING SC SONGS FOR FREE. they sit there looking over their library and see that they have many duplicates of SC songs because of the way SC sold the same songs on multiple discs. Many home users would have to buy 15 songs for the one song they really wanted to sing. They wound up having to buy 14 songs that they would never sing. Downloading that one song that they really wanted became possible at some point in time and those people just felt that they were just getting even with a company that was forcing to buy tons of filler music for years. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do, but in the immortal words of Chris Rock; but I understand. That's right! I said it!

FTFY

From LP Records (vinyl & you bought the whole album) and 45rpm Singles to 8-tracks, to reel-to-reel, to cassettes, to CD's, to the invention of the MP3 & MP3+G to Napster, to I-Tunes.

The technology changed. The whole recording industry changed. The entire product line changed as well as the production model and delivery method changed.

During that change, the laws remained the same. The "old" way of doing business failed because a nod and a handshake can't be digitized.

That, coupled with the fact that anyone with internet access can steal someone else intellectual property from the comfort of their own home (and there are some here who complain loudly but have no problem bragging about their theft of music tracks) and you find that ... THAT IS WHY... People look at it like speeding in your car... it's fine as long as you don't get in a wreck or caught by the cops. They figure they aren't hurting anyone. You think that is right??

You can't justify theft as retribution for commerce. No one ever put a gun to your head and forced you to pay. If you were pro in the days before file-sharing you bought the best product you could afford at the time or you didn't. You didn't stand on self-righteous indignation as a platform for stealing from the industry that provides your earning potential.

Sorry for contributing to the de-rail.

On the topic of the OP: I don't recognize any of the songs on listed. I listened to the Flo Rida & Jason DeRulo song because I thought maybe it'd be a good intro for a Friday night show, but I don't think that is Flo's best work... meh.

I have two words for those that want to buy their music anywhere - "TOR Browser"

You also have to keep in mind that Mr Entertainer is essentially SBI with a different title screen and the product is designed for the UK market where they hold licenses to sell it. As a result, you will find lots of songs that are relatively unknown in this country...

I'd rather tell 2-3 people that I don't have it than spend $23 to have it sung 3-4 times. That a definite negative ROI, and I am running a business here! Having a song and not needing it = a complete waste of money.

I don't think my show suffers from the 1-2 songs a night that someone requests that I don't have. They always find alternatives. It's not chasing anyone off or sending them to the place down the street. I buy "the hits" 3-4 months later once they prove to have some lasting power, or sometimes earlier if multiple people are asking for them.

What I lack in brand new music, I more than make up for in quality sound and quality hosting 8)

Up until last week, I was able to get most any new song I wanted, from SBI. Karaoke Version has been doing a pretty good job keeping up with new songs, though. For some reason, I can STILL download from SBI and Zoom. Still no problems. Just have to go searching instead of having it all centralized on Tricerasoft.

Be that as it may, for whatever it’s worth here is my opinion on the matter: “To each his own”!

I own the whole Mr. Entertainer Disc Collection and buy each new disc just to keep it complete. Wishing I had done the same with Sound Choice.

Has this changed? I haven't been on SBI site for a couple weeks

One part of the sea change in business model a lot of you haven't taken advantage of . . .

The kids these days want to sing a song NOW . . . and they have absolutely ZERO problem paying you to get it for them.

Looking at last year, I purchased 1248.00 of music. 442 of that was paid for by singers.

My standard line is "Yes, It's available for download right now from so and so for 3.00 dollars.
I can have it downloaded and ready for you on the next rotation.
Roughly four times out of 5 they'll say "sweet" and toss a five dollar bill at me. I never tell anyone they HAVE to pay for it, they just do.

I'll happily pay for it myself if I think the song will be popular or they are good customers.

If the song they want is a clunker that I know will never be sung again or they are jerks then doggone it I just can't seem to find it available anywhere.

I didn't try to go forward with the purchase to see if it will accept payment from USA. I stopped once I saw the warning at the top and the check box stating that I am not in the USA...

No you cannot purchase Me Entertainer from the source as a download. You can still purchase from UK stores that will ship internationally.
http://www.kingsbridgekaraoke.co.uk/catalog/
www.amazon.co.uk

Downloads I use
karaoke-version.com
karaoke.net
sbikaraoke.com - not all songs are available as downloads or disc in the US.

I just purchased from SBI recently. They sent me a custom disc even though I tagged everything as download. It was worth it as I got some things that on one else has.

That might have been a mistake on their end, or they simply don't care anymore now that they are in a lawsuit with Sony/EMI now as well.

I figured that is the "legal" way in the eyes of the producers so they switched it from download to custom disc. Much slower but at least the option is still there.

I had no issues ordering discs and apparently it's still an option for some people I found out. For me it is no longer an option.
