I am playing around with CompuHost (and I like it better than Hoster so far).
I like that INS in CompuHost does the same thing as INS in Karma.
Also, I like that they have built-in HotKey mapping support. I don't see a hotkey mapping for the "Song Search and Drag" though.
Is there a HotKey for bring up the "Song Search and Drag" window?

Is there a HotKey for bring up the "Song Search and Drag" window? To me it was Karma or Compuhost. I chose Karma, big mistake I should have gone with Compuhost.

i've been using compuhost since 2006 or so! but i've never setup hotkey's. but i do remember in the karaokeware forums others setting up hotkey's to do specific tasks by modifying a config file.
if you call their sales team and ask them the same question they can give you that specific info. and probably tell you how to do it. Computhost is very versatile.
give them a call. and i just want to add i love the kiosk add on for the ability of looking up songs and the singers being able to add themself to your rotation from their own smart phone.
you won't be disappointed.

There is also the phone app that allows singers to register with their email addresses and then submit songs from their own seats.

Is there a HotKey for bringing up the "Song Search and Drag" window?

Interesting..... I've been using Hoster for almost 10 years..... and during that time I've had exactly ZERO failures caused by the program. Any failures have always been hardware related.. like a disc crash. Because I use a small desktop machine in a roadcase, I have a keyboard on a drawer slide that also has a touchpad built in. But I mostly use hotkeys to do anything and not the pointing device.

I haven't had any crashes in my testing of Hoster. Just frustration with doing basic tasks. Seems there are a lot more steps involved with accomplishing the things we do most often through out the night. Karma doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other hosting apps, but I still haven't found any other program that comes close the the simplicity and ease of use. Too bad Bob doesn't know how to deliver tech support. CompuHost is leading the pack so far as an alternative to Karma. The built in hotkey mapping means I don't need a 3rd party app to do it or a programmable mouse. I am still looking at Hoster though. I figure if folks like Chip and Lonnie have used it for a decade, there must be something to like about it. I am just trying to figure out what

I am just trying to figure out what I have been using Hoster almost every night for months with a fully operational program, and I can't figure out what is so great about it either. The ability to quickly grab a singer's song from their cd is nice, but I am quickly weening my singers from bringing their cd's. The built in song book is nice, but it does not produce as nice a song book as some the stand alone programs. So far Karma is best for me. My wife absolutely hates Hoster and sees no reason why I continue test Hoster.

I would be happy with sticking to Karma. I just don't trust Bob to not wipe licenses.

chrisavis wrote: I just don't trust Bob to not wipe licenses. He's done it before, he'll most likely do it again. The only way to avoid that is not to connect your hosting machine(s) to the internet. He can't wipe a license he can't reach. Or, you know that you can block your machine from visiting his site in the policy settings automatically. He can only wipe your machine from his "home base" so just block it. If you're happy with the version you have now, leave it like it is don't upgrade it. After all, how much (more) do you want your hosting program to do for you?

All my OS reside on a 40GB C drive partition.

FWIW, I have been using Compuhost for many, happy years. From a show perspective, it's been superb and never let me down. I will say however, their tech support leaves much to be desired. You will leave the experience feeling like you were conversing with a cold AI and your problems are your own fault. Granted I haven't had to contact them in quite some time, but my distinct recollection then was "WOW. These people really need to work on their bedside manor!". Zero warmth, personality or humanity. In the end you get it fixed, but it certainly isn't the way to create "NPS promoters" of your business.
