To make a short story long, yes, I did go out last night, and took a turn at the mic.

Now for a club review..

The KJ did everything wrong, (If you read much here).

1) The KJ sang first. (Not a bad thing, but he had great voice.)

2) The KJ used music videos as filler music.. (Everyone knows that's just wrong)

3) The KJ allowed rappers to sing as a group. (Come on, RAP?)

4) The KJ sang again. (Did I mention he has a great voice?)

5) Those damned rappers must have pulled a knife on the KJ, they were up again.

6) Damn those music videos.

7) Please ignore all of the clapping and large smiles on the audience, they must be drugged.

8) Yes, I sang.. It has been a while, but I toughed it out.. (Drift Away)

9) Great food, amazing KJ, tough Hollywood crowd, good times..

I may have to repeat..

1, 2 and 6 are wrong? Says who? I'm not sure if this is a sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek post, but I play music videos for bumper several times a night. Not between *every song* but maybe 8 or 10 a night.

I have so little time between singers that no one would even know that I played a video..... sometimes 1 to 2 seconds (or less). :D

I don't have my singers lined up like cattle lol

But I have seen shows where the host will give a mic to the next singer while the current song is playing. I do that on occasion, but not for every song. Definitely makes it faster paced. My Friday show is at a hotel, so there's always a few people I've never seen at my show. It makes it difficult find them sometimes. Also, sometimes they're too far away to get to them and give them a mic. Sometimes I'll find people I know that are at the back of the bar (far away) and give them a heads up that they're up next.

I actuallly stream a message "Please Be Prepared To Sing Before Being Called". I do have them lined up like cattle and frankly they love it. They practically boo someone (not really) that takes too long, because they know that slow person is wasting their time too. At the end of the night I have a full tip jar. :D

That is a good idea - it is difficult to find people sometimes because they are in the toilet or at the bar. I know a couple of young girls who come up to sing together, they always put their song in, then they sit at their table and they get a cigarette each out of their packet and when I call them they light up and bring their cigarette to the stage to have while they sing.
