With SBI announcing that they and other UK folks have cut off Tricerasoft, I am interested in how people plan on obtaining new tracks going forward?

The UK sites are geo-blocking US folks, but they aren't consistent.
The same goes for many of the custom disc sites.

Seems that the lucky folks that don't get blocked and those willing to circumvent using VPN/TOR are going to be the only folks left that are able to buy new tracks with any regularity.

There are only 2 Brick and Mortar stores available to Seattle folks. I called one fo them this morning and they said the only discs they buy any longer are Singer Solutions. When I asked if they had researched to see if they were legit, they said "it isn't worth our time to do so because we can't even sell discs for cost any longer".

I am going to head up to see him this weekend to see what kind of stock he has left and perhaps make him an offer on whatever he has left.

I buy so little "new" music, I could care less. Most all the stuff I buy is the older songs I don't already have.

I too purchase very little new music. I would bet that I will only need to purchase 200 new songs in the next 5 years. I only buy the absolutely proven to be sung songs. "Hello" will not be one of them. :)

What of the newbies trying to be legit when starting their karaoke business? Where can they go to purchase even older tracks?

I was just doing a portion of my 2015 self-employment taxes. I spent exactly $187.06 on new karaoke music last year, which is very comparable to the last 4-5 years. In the 2000s, I was probably spending 10X that much per year.

People clammer for the new songs when they are hot on the radio, but they rarely are sung. I buy the songs that have a bit of staying power, about 3-4 months after they first come out, and even then, they are rarely sung.

Either way, I found that spending a ton of $$$ on new songs is a bad business model. Singers seem to demand that the book be a certain size (I'm at about 14.5K unduped tracks), but after that, they don't get too upset if you don't have the latest thing. I have a sheet where singers ask for new music, and might get 3-4 requests a month, usually for their favorite deep cut track that doesn't exist, not for the latest pop hit.

I often spend more than $150/week on new music. But I run multiple systems.

The way I see it is like this - If I can keep someone in the bar by buying a track they may only sing once for $3, I just might get them to come back again. That is $3 well spent AND I have a track that *might* get performed again sometime in the future.

It is basically a marketing expense.

I'm surprised you didn't say Karaoke Version. Another good choice. And don't forget All Star Karaoke.

yeah i bought up all David Bowie. Glenn Frey too. Those weren't really requested just more in tribute. That was approx 75 of the total bought this year.

All Star really isnt worth getting for new music. Very Casio sounding lately.

I will be buying discs from the UK as I can afford them. Have a cousin who lives there if they are forced to stop shipping to me.

Then there is karaoke version, altho i hate the conversion rate on them, but what ya gonna do.

When KSF gets into the swing of things i will probably be buying from them.

And if PEP actually ever produces new music, we'll have to see.

Hmm still no new announcements from PEP almost a full two to 3 weeks after promised updates.. Color me shocked.. NOT

edit: they might be doing an update soon, just when over the the PEP site and the link to Prime is broken... 404 error

General Announcement: When (not if) this reaches some sort of conclusion, as I am sure they will run us through the mud, plead ignorance, then further dirty our reputation regardless of us explaining our position (which is why our position is of no consequence, but we assure you it is justified), I will one day explain to you all why it is justified, and further why you are only able to buy certain songs from those services you all mentioned, and it has nothing to do with having licenses (we have more licenses than they will ever have, some from the same agents) - then follow by asking yourself why only the illegal services are still running unaffected yet we who hold the licenses are being harassed and squeezed. I really wish someone bothers to open Pacer and read the public record of the lawsuit rather than making idiotic theories. Pay for the PDFs and look for the words "Qualified Distributor", you may want to also look at our defense and ask why everything is being ignored (very curious...). I obviously can't say anymore, so don't bother asking - its all in the public record. Then enlighten everyone as to why you must all support those who are legal and put up a fight rather than those who cave in - for us it may be too late as I am sure they intend to 'vaporize' us (hint: read the PDFs), I'm not asking for your support because if our reputation doesn't hold then we can't convince you all, but don't paint us as crooks and brush us aside like a disease when we have supported the industry for over 20 years and created the technology you all use day-to-day. We brought this industry (to name a few things), MP3+G, the All-in-one karaoke player, digital karaoke on your PC, the first MP3+G conversion tool (CDG Ripper), the first video/karaoke mixing player, and the first and longest running legal digital karaoke resell service, so I would hope that gives us some credit and credibility. I have been fighting crooks in this business every day, some continue to be successful and continue to taunt us. I have been double-crossed, stolen from, reverse engineered, copied, mimicked, insulted, run under the bus by those I have been most loyal to, thrown to the dogs and left to the elements, spin doctored, punished for doing the right thing, been made to question reality and what constitutes as right and wrong, accused of doing stuff I have never done (how could you be guilty of something you never did??), and now sued for being legal (that one is the hardest to swallow). I guess all I'm asking is that you give me some sort of acknowledgement that my reputation and efforts actually mattered all these years, rather than jumping to conclusions and marking me as a witch (reference to Salem).

Maybe you could jump over to this topic and explain yourself...

For the record, i have always tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and take you at your word, which is why I continued to buy tracks even after you started pulling content from ZOOM and the majority of UK prodcers. But when a company with an equal stellar reputation claims to have direct ties to the people who made the DK brand stating that they are NOT licensing to anyone, and then DK tracks show up on your site. You have to admit that is bound to make you wonder. So if you didn't get them from the makers, how did you manage to get the dk tracks you are currently selling?

Furthermore, I know for a fact that you used to sell STELLAR tracks. How do i know? Because i bought two tracks from your site way back in 2007 or so *i'd have to check the records*, i still have them even tho i don't use them.

The owner of stellar records before it was defunct has gone on record as stating they never authorized you to sell any tracks, which i gather is why they were eventually taken down, altho it did seem to take a while.

But even after that, i contacted zoom and they said you were paying your fees to them, so i figured it was just some kind of misundertanding and left it at that.. but all these small things over time. So tell me, is SBI lying now as well? *see above link*

Feel free to contact me via PM

Speaking only for myself, my business model requires me to do some due diligence around acquiring music that is properly licensed and valid for use. When I see "SBI ordered the removal of ALL it's content from Tricerasoft and it's related sites in November 2015" and "ANY sale of SBI repertoire by Tricerasoft is unauthorized", I don't really care about the reasons why. I just acknowledge that the people actually making the tracks don't want us buying their tracks through Tricerasoft.

I like the KDCA portal and process better than any other site out there. But until the issue is resolved, I have to buy my music through other legitimate sites even if the experience is less than satisfactory. For me, this means going directly to the manufacturer sites.

I totally understand you, that is why we call this unwarranted defamation because it does not explain the truth and causes extreme unreversable damage.

If it all lands in your favor, then I absolutely agree. You have provided a fantastic service. One I have directed many, many people (KJ's and Singers) to in the last 5 years.
