Question for Michael:

Are the MP4's on your site High Definition graphics or do they look just like CDG's in the MP4 format.

No, as we have indicated in earlier threads, we don't offer HD versions outside of our upcoming subscription service. They are Mp4 videos created from the CDG.

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael, I'm using the latest version of Firefox 43.0.4.

Hi Karen, I just tested on Mac Version 43.04 and then on a PC Version 43.01 and both looked like this... Perhaps there is some setting that needs to be tweaked in your browser?

Doing so, will alienate a lot of customers. Not everyone wants or needs a subscription service. I just want to buy the tracks I need when I need them. And I want them in HD. KV, Zoom, SBI, Sunfly all offer HD versions for the same price as the CDG version. No subscription needed. I think you should reconsider your position on this and make HD versions available to everyone.

That's like saying, you can download our antiquated CDG crap but if you want the good stuff in HD, you gotta pay for it. I'm already not liking your company's policy on this. Something that should be standard in this digital age, you're only making available if you subscribe. That's retarded. Karaoke Version and SBI are doing it right.

I think kjs having to have HD or they wont buy it are few. Singers dont give a rip if the graphics are in hd or cdg they just want to sing.

Does HD somehow improve the "karaoke experience"? I completely fail to see how it can. Maybe for few that have the rare "fuzzyitis" syndrome.

I have been grabbing the HD versions for a while but I actually prefer the CDG format now. Better contrast and consistent scaling to 16x9 makes it easier to read than the moving backgrounds.

I agree with the part about singers. Although I've had two now take notice and compliment the new graphics. The point I'm saying is, give us a choice, like SBI and KV does. No, you don't have to buy them if you don't like them but some of us do. Personally, I like it. The graphics are such an improvement over the blocky text of CDG's.

The point is, I don't like what they're doing by only letting them be available if you subscribe. Which is asinine. Make them available to everyone. Some of us like them. For the record, since HD's became available, every new song I downloaded was in HD whenever available.

Will a $900 Line 6 microphone improve the "karaoke experience" ? I don't think so, but if that's you like, you have a choice. My point is all about choices which apparently Karaoke.net doesn't seem to want to offer (unless you subscribe, which is retarded).

They are also available without the moving backgrounds.

My point is I seriously doubt that most kjs won't still buy the mp3g even though they may want it on HD. Especially if it's a song they need and is only available here.

I still buy Mp3+G even when I have a choice. The graphics are just fine for karaoke. Some singers pay too much attention to the screen as it is.

Hi Alan,

You are entitled to your opinion. We have our reasons for this decision and have been up front about the formats we would offer from the beginning. We strive to give our customers what they want and accept the fact that we can never make everyone happy. Although I can understand the comparison you make between us and SBI and others like them - it really isn't a fair comparison.

SBI and other European companies do not bear the extraordinary cost of licensing that we, as an American company do. They need not seek a clearance before making a track like we do. They need not pay cash advances to the publishers like we do. They do not adhere to the licenses that govern them and they could care less about whether people pirate their content. That is retarded.

I don't discuss the subscription service we are about to launch here because I really don't consider it a product that most KJ's would want. I only mentioned it because that is where the HD content goes. In the meantime, we will continue to populate the Karaoke.net site with new content and produce some songs that have never been offered before to compliment the libraries of KJ's like you. If not having HD is a deal breaker for you or anyone else, we have to live with that.

Michael

I'm good with good old MP3+G format. Nothing fancy needed.

I'll be interested in this option once you are set. I am a good ole home party host now and have used weekend subscriptions to fill in as I just can't see buying something I won't sing myself any longer. We don't have to go into details now. Maybe just start a thread on it when you are ready.

Thanks!

Plus most software allows for the changing of sync on graphics to advance or retard them. This cannot be done with video.

I removed those 2 tracks from the list as they are not cleared yet for the USA and only available on the UK site....hopefully added in soon!

Correct, it is the sue to be cleared here and we don't see any reason it won't, but in the meantime it is only available in the UK on the Customburn site
