Granted this person has a descent voice. Not great.. I''ve only heard a few that I'd truly consider great. The rest are great for participating in good clean fun. This person brings up contest or something.. what gives??? Have I missed something here??? My thoughts are that it takes enough guts for some people to get up onstage and try to sing. Or.. even recording themselves for all of us to hear on the Internet. I have played music for a living, I have had too many near misses from "Making it" years ago. I now toy with it for fun. I'm sure that most everyone else out here is the same. Voicing my opinion on this one. I really don't think that such openly negative comments should be aloud out here. Words or encouragement is great, but making people mad or hurting there feeling's isn't what it's all about. If there's a contest somewhere going on, keep the comments to the contest. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut.... My wife and I are fairly new here and don't want to stir trouble, but..... Sometimes someone has to say something in hopes to make it better.

I agree, I went through, and real this guys comments, and was taken aback by 'em. A little harsh is putting it mildy....But.. to each their own...We can't exactly MAKE someone be nice. And, i don' think the guy has to LIE to the people he doesn't like, honesty can ALWAYS mean, leaving, before you SAY something mean. Gawd, adults simply can't understand this?! If ya can't say something nice..... DON"T SAY ANYTHIGN AT ALL! (unless they say "please, be mean to me, and make me cry for simply making an effort, and having the guts to post something")

As a victim of his comments (and actually probably the most cruelest ones when I read the other comments he's given in his profile), I guess in regards to "contest" part of it is in reference to me.

I usually enter a karaoke contest in the summer and I wanted feedback on some of the songs that I've put up to know if they are possibilities I should pursue practicing for this contest which is months away.

AGAIN - these were in no way "the finished" product --but according to this person my worst fear is true, that I'm beyond hope and not worth false hope and have no way to improve myself. This is fine for his opinion - & I did ask for it because I don't want to get up in front of people and make a fool out of myself.

Whatever - it's his opinion & he's very much entitled to that. But then to attack me on a comment I left on someone else's basically saying that I don't have the ability to hear good music when I know it really torked me. Then I see him slamming comments made by Blue and trashing her when she was upfront and honest about not being a "pro" so her opinion isn't a "pro's" opinion. ERR.

But then again - I thought his sub was pretty good -- so maybe he is right -- I am not able to tell good music when I hear it & I told him that in my comments.

As for my not being able to give an opinion on music -- Well - let me tell you DJ_sit&spin -- oops I mean "sunspinner" -- the people that go out and buy artist's recordings are NOT the pro's -- they are every day people like myself and many others on this site. When I listen to people's subs, I'm not listening as a musician, I'm listening as an every day person and giving my first impression -- which is usually what happens when a person listens to the radio.


I was seriously contemplating letting his comments stop me from singing again but I've had too many strangers come up to me during this last summer's contest (which I made it into the Semi-finals against some pretty good people) and tell me that they really enjoyed my singing & those strangers do not owe me anything - they don't know me & they weren't going up to everyone telling them that. I've also had some local people that do nothing but complain about things tell some of my friends how I impressed them -- so I guess now we're into "fluffing to the friends" - I don't think so. I also entered singing competitions in high school and received highest marks from some very tough judges.

Well DJ -- I will NOT let you bring me down! If anything I'm more determined.

Girl, dont EVER let anyone's comments stop you from singing. You will always have the bad comments, no matter where you go...and can even come from judges in a competition.

If you stop singing, you are letting them win....don't let anyone ever take away your dreams and ambitions......

If people want to go around making comments like that....well....just ignore them, and eventaully they will go away....

I have had some mean comments LOTSA times, and, heck, I am still recording, and submitting!!

The biggie reason for the post is maybe there should be a "Be courteous" clause somewhere. Your right... You can't control everyone, but when asked to be courteous at all times, most people will use there heads a little. Also, a clause like this could make it easier for the Webmaster to kick such unpleasant people.

Or..... Did I miss the context somewhere and is there a contest here on this site??

well i am british...and can talk with a plum in ma gob like simon cowell does ...trouble is i aint got all his cash and i don't wear trousers as high up as he does.....ive got bigger boobs...i sort of can hold a tune which he can't but i aint got a production company like he has, nor his money else i wouldn't want SS to employ me as a fluffy to pay for ma new kitchen....i dunno if i would make a very good critique person .... can you imagine it eh...me giving critique i have trouble making myself understood when i am being nice let alone when i grow horns hehehe...anyways flip knows what i am waffling about, i am bored can ya tell hehehehe....oh yes i remember what i was gonna say....


it does clearly state from what ive been told time and time again that SS welcomes honest critique....but to be courteous at all times...or something like that don.

and SS ban someone are ya kidding.....some of those comments are mild to what ive saw happen in the forum and ive yet to see someone banned....perhaps that might be why people do things like that....cause they know they aint gonna get banned.

Amen Missy and Don and Gracie...I have been thinking this am how hilarious it will be when all the "nice folks" leave shaking their heads and there is no one but the rude folks left and they can all just post and be rude to each other...... Now won't that be a hoot...

Hey it will solve alot of problems...No redoing the pages, pages will move slower, everyone will be miserable, stirrers won't have to stir cause they will all be wallowing in it ...everyone can have a nasty lil signature saying and a disgusting lil smiley after it.

Maybe you can get a 10 if you give the rudest comment of the day on a fellow humans sub...hey maybe even an 11 if you make someone feel so bad they never want to sub again...much less listen or comment..

Sounds to me like the devil himself has come forth here to our heavenly lil pastime and turned it into a miserable place that resembles hell...and there are many lil deamons running wild doing and saying ugly things, changing their words and beliefs, selling their values in for fear of no listens or bad remarks from the mean folks... Some people I have always respected changing their tune, and I don't mean their song... Even lying to make themselves look better...as if we are too blind or stupid or deaf to know the truth...

Getting real sad around here...and I know I am not alone in my feeling, cuz I chat with many of like opinion....

I suggest we all stand back and get a real grasp on what is happening to our site...before it's too late, though I fear it already may be...The devil himself has to be behind this, cuz just a little while ago this was a very pleasant place to be...Friend helping friend, new pals everyday, sharing and caring, now look at it...

connie i have to agree with some of the points....actually ya know i dont talk often privately with many who use the site, but today ive chatted with 2 people...who have said the same thing to me....just how weird is SS getting lately.....and when i first arrived ...yeah there was arguments and tiff's but it was never taken into the showcase not really ...it stayed in the forum....i thought that was soooo cool a place where ya can waffle and chat away about everything and anything...then sub your song and know its gonna get listened to and everyone would support each other ...in a positive way....and to think poor allstar the grief he got cause he would pick on peoples mixes....aint nothing to what i see now happening in there now.

OK - I've calmed down now & I apologize for my earlier post.

I truly wasn't upset about the comments that he gave me on my songs - those are his opinions. & yes - having the soft heart I do - it did hurt somewhat & placed doubt in my abilities. But when my opinions of someone else's songs were slammed that made me MAD and to see how other's that were commenting were being criticized on their comments too really added to that flame.

I have to admit Connie that I have been thinking the same thing about the devil being in the room this week. Lately it seems like he's following me around and beating up people in front of my eyes including myself.

It kind of shocked me tho that someone being brand new to this site would have the guts to just throw their weight around like that. When I first joined I was nervous about upsetting other people and still am cautious about what I say/don't say. But then again, in general I am a caring and warm hearted person with compassion for others, so I could never walk up to someone and scream in their face "Hey you suck & you don't know how to listen to music" and I would never boo someone off stage.

I'd like to think that I have a little more class than that and maybe say, "I just didn't think that was the song for you" or "yeah - I can hear what you're trying to do and you're not quite there yet", etc.

But to throw eggs in their face and then add insult to injury is just plain not nice but there are a lot of "not nice" people in the world and we can't fix them - they have to fix themselves. It's just too bad that they have the ability to ruin it for good hearted and well intentioned people.

Personally, I don't want to be left here with all the rude people -- what a dark and sad place this would become. I hope that good will "triumph" over evil -- in a sense.
