Hi all,

I am after getting my first Karaoke machine for home use and would really like one that accepts multi-format devices I.E. Disc / USB Drive / SD Card for Karaoke playback. I have seen a number of machines that can do this, but have been unable to find out further information about them.

Ideally the machine would be able to find tracks easily by some form of title input, instead of scrolling through all the songs to load a particular song. I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a machine that can do this.

From what I understand the only way you can do the above function via turning your PC / Laptop into a Karaoke machine, but with this I am unsure of what other equipment / hardware I would need to invest in, to make it as good as the Multi-format player. I have already got a PA Monitor on the to buy list as I wish for the player to be independent from my Home Cinema system.

Any advice here would be appreciated

Many Thanks

There are many available on ebay... look for something that allows USB and reads MP3+G format. Acetonic, RSQ offer very good products.

I have and use the RSQ Neo k-22 N player. It's very user friendly.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your response, I have had a look at that player and it looks a lovely machine, just a shame that I would need to get it imported as it isn't available in the UK :(. One of the machines I was looking at was the Starsinger 1000 Pro II, as that is very similar but only 1 tray.

Yes that does look a great machine, especially as you can input the track title, would come in really good use :). I know it means getting microphones separately, but from what I heard included microphones are not all that.

since you are already getting a pa, there is nothing else you would need for your pc to be the player. software will play the disc just as a standalone hardware player does in any format.

So just get hosting software for your PC and a good USB sound card. Loading the music (CD-G's) and stuff is easy. If any of you karaoke is in a MP3 format just copy and paste.

Thanks for the advice guys it is much appreciated :). Would I be right in thinking that a decent bit of hosting software would have the key change facility / Echo as well ?, also my laptop has 2 video outputs, one being the VGA and the other being the Display Port, so could use either of those to output the lyrics to a bigger screen as I already have the Display Port to HDMI Adapter. ?

Sorry for the newbie questions

Yes to all your question except for "echo". Echo, reverb, etc. will added at your mixer/PA.

Thank you for that information, I will look at the various software available & see which is the best to use for a newbie. The lady that does the weekly karaoke at a local pub has a really nifty piece of hosting software, if there is a track that someone wants that isn't in the book, she just taps out the track name in the software & is able to add it into the playlist quite quickly

before you decide... there is also another option available to you. The Karaoke HD 2.0 BOX

just a suggestion.

I have sent the lady an email, both my partner & me are on really good terms with her, so am hoping she will tell me what software she uses. I did add in the email that it was for a home system, so don't want her to think that I am setting up my own business. :o

Thank you for that, it does look quite a nifty device and even tho I am known for being a gadget whore, I think that the Laptop with a PA system is the way forward as I already have 2 laptops, either one with a decent enough spec to run the software needed.
