However, licensing can be confusing; like all contracts, licenses are subject to interpretation; and I have no reason necessarily to credit what a music publisher tells me over TriceraSoft was saying publicly. It may be a situation where there is a difference of opinion as to what the existing licenses covered.

Well again it makes me wonder as soon as they started offering DK tracks - they immediately pulled brand designation for each track - stating in an email to me when I questioned it they basically said they only carry SBI primarily so showing brands were pointless. But now they show brands and list SBI as 'SBI' - and all other manus as 'OT' no matter what brand they are. And they stated they get permission from each manu that they sell - where do they get DK permission from - and if I recall I remember it being said DK would NEVER allow downloads, but I cannot find that thread so that is heresay on my part.

Lon, I agree that the DK think is a real head scratcher. I caught that right away when I was looking for brands when you stated they dropped the manu on their site. So I do agree that it looks like they may be skirting permissions.

I think Tricerasoft has enough on their plate legally than to invite the sort that a company as big DK can cause....

You might want to search for old posts by Chip. I recall him posting a lot about DK (years ago), and even saying he was in direct contact with them.

And I seem to remember reading some where here that DK sold the US rights to Sound Factory, which is why the last three disc's of the Millennium Series are Sound Factory not DK. Then supposedly someone else acquired the rights which is how they came to be on SCDG's. The whole DK situation is a mess, glad I have orig. discs of both sets.

I did some research from some site in Japan the DK manufactures/Producers are also presently associated with "CLUB DAM"
I was curious as to maybe they are still producing new DK songs. Ebay presently still sells 1800 DK songs for under 60.00 (3 cents per song)

Club DAM is Daiichi Kosho's brand in Japan. Their operations are solely marketed to Japan.

I did notice the BKD tracks now listed on Tricerasoft. I never thought I would see that happen, as most people consider Tricerasoft to be a legit licensed site, and BKD unlicensed junk. Now that most of their content is being blocked in the US, they must be getting desperate.
I'm shocked that BKD is still around, since they put out new music sooner than anyone and stuff that no one else produces. There is no way they have rights to it. However, I did notice BKD pulled the Fast Trax/Singer Solution/whatever name they go by now tracks. From what I recall though the tracks sounded identical. I wonder if they are actually one in the same.
I tell ya, It's getting to be a real pain in the but to find new music. This past year or two, I've bought half of what I have in the last few years, yet still bought most of what I could find that was new.

I would also add that if the downloads do come back at a higher price ($3-$4ea) I may go back to buying CDGs and end up with some duplicates. As long as it's still an average of $18 for 9 to 12 tracks, you are better off. Even though it's a pain to convert them to MP3+G.

George Strait's song ‘take me to texas’ requested last night, avail only @ tricera, manu brand is OT. I played the sample & it’s actually buykaraokedeownloads. Now, bkd tos sez for personal use only but if being offered by my goto downloads tricera then why not.
Then the question. How’s bkd quality? I have some of their tracks from 4 years ago & they’re below average. Their quality get any better lately?
