Using the Compuhost Advanced Media player for discs, when we chose the track and hit the start/stop button, the disc did not open in Compuhost as it usually does. It opened the file in Windows media player and just played music with no video. I rebooted the program but it still happened. Has anyone had this occur? Any suggestions how to fix?

You need to reset the default program for opening .cda and .cdg file types to Compuhost.

Left click Start-Control Panel-Default Programs-Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.

left double click the .cda extension. Choose Compuhost to always open .cda files(If Compuhost is not in the list you need to click choose more programs and then find the Compuhost.exe file on your harddrive and choose it.

Same process for .cdg files.

google the phrase "Associate a file type" and you will find step by step with pictures for whatever operating system you are using.

I have a second backup computer that also has compuhost and compared the default programs. Neither one even lists cdg as a file type. The backup computer plays discs fine. So I am thinking that that is not the issue.

What version are you using? I've found v2.50.04 the most stable for me. Does CDGrip work?

Whether you choose to follow the advice or not is your choice but the answer to your problem was given first by jdmeister and then by dsm2000, two different ways to do the same...associate the file type with the correct program to open it.

.cdg is not A file type option. So that "solution" will not work for me.

Navigate to your d: e: whatever your cd drive is that contains your cdg cd.
in file explorer you will probably only see files named track 1 track 2 track 3 etc.

RIGHT double click one of the track files.
choose Open With
If Compuhost is not in the list, choose more programs
navigate to the folder where the compuhost program file is stored.
choose the comuhost application file (.exe)
check the box that says "Always use this program to open this type of file
Left double clicking the track files(.cda) should now open in Compuhost as before.

Thank you to everyone for your ideas and suggestions. Although changing the file default did not work, I know more about file types and defaults. =)
I put in a support ticket to Compuhost. They sent me a link to re-install the full software. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Thanks much, my karaoke people for all your comments and suggestions! =)
