Today is the day we are supposed to get the list of songs.... its 12:30 EST, anybody see them yet?

Good grief, you folks are impatient.

We will be releasing a preliminary list later today.

I must stress that this list will be preliminary. It almost certainly includes songs that won't get made. It also omits songs that will get made. There are many factors that will go into what gets produced. If you see things on this list you don't want, don't despair. If you don't see things on this list that you do want, don't despair. There are plenty of time and opportunities to get what you're looking for.

Well, yes... I'm looking forward to see what's on the list, as I am sure many people are. Also, this isn't something that kinda just pops up overnight, I am sure you had a general idea of the list yesterday...

So yeah, I would think its reasonable to see a list as early as possible from you, no?

It's reasonable to ask, but we have a lot of different criteria that have to be satisfied--licensing, popularity, requests, whether other producers have made a karaoke version, and so forth.

Then what's the point of a list at all? <-- a pacifier perhaps?

I can put up a really great list of songs too.... if I knew I'd never have to make any of them.

Actally i agree with that one. Why on earth would you omit what WILL be made from any list. I would think that would be important for those wanting to know what will be made

i think they are worried about some people making a big stink to the publishers over certain songs in the hopes that the publisher will pull the rights and thus ensure the song never gets made thus givng Pep another black eye and seen in a bad light with hosts who still support them.

Now i don't know how realistic that is, but I have to say i have real mixed feelings.

Jim, i wasn't looking for anything definitive.. Just a list of songs that have been requested on your site, that the publisher hasn't specifiically said 'no' to. I'm not interested in hearing about songs that will NEVER see the light of day.

Just because you post something doesn't mean that your EXPECTED to publish it And if there is something definitive that you definately WANT to publish, that doesn't mean you have to exclude it from the list either.

After all, you didn't say anything about which song was what, now did you? how is a person supossed to guess if something definately gets published or not. i don't think they can you've already stated that all songs would be subject to publisher approval.

I didn't mean to imply that there's something that we know will be made, specifically, but we're just omitting it for now. We are in active negotiations with several publishers. If and when we are able to get licensing for something that we think is a better selection, something could get bumped to a later release.

When I put up the list in a few minutes, you'll notice that it's heavily weighted toward recent hits. That's because we're still combing through older material that wasn't done before but is in demand, and there will be selections from that material. It takes time to do that.

I can understand James' perspective. Maybe the solution would be to break down the list into a few sections.

Or something that makes sense. I am sure they do not want to provide you a list and then not be able to deliver. I don't think the KJs would want that either.

The problem is that nothing (right now) is in the "For Sure" column... It's a preliminary list. That's fine, at least we have something. Maybe when they are closer to the release date, or before they close out advanced orders, we might get more confirmed songs, driving the sales a bit. The biggest thing is will they get enough orders to release the music? We will see, 3 weeks and we will know all.

Seriously, what good is a list of songs for your subscriber's if you say they are not going to be made and the ones that will be made will not be on the list?

For one thing, it pisses you off, so thumbs up on that one.

More seriously, your reading comprehension skills need some work. We will not release all of the ones on the list in the first group, and there may be some that are released in the first group that aren't on the list. What's difficult to understand about that?

Oh good! I'm glad that I can still be so influential (in your head) that your confusing marketing statements are carefully crafted to piss me off....


It's not reading comprehension -- because I was not the only one that read your statement that way -- perhaps you need to start writing like someone that is actually marketing a new product, rather than a convoluted style like an attorney trying to keep some loopholes open.

But hey, don't listen to me.... I'm not eligible anyway.... (thank goodness!)
